THE FANTASTICKS revival, reimagined as a gay love story, aiming for Broadwa

It doesn’t. Beaches was a commercial production, unlike The Fantasticks. It won’t be closing early.

Who’s that
"

The set designer. Again, not someone who’s gonna sell any tickets. And every show is a limited run now with the hopes that if they call it a limited run, it’ll make people buy tickets and they can extend. Yes, it’s a subscription house, but they still need to sell tickets. The rest of their season isn’t doing it for me, so maybe this one could? If there are no recognizable names (Broadway or otherwise), it better be hellagood!

A casting announcement with stars would be nice, but I have no concern about 2nd Stage's finances.

This might not break sales records for them, but it's a limited run in a nonprofit subscription house, with 597 seats and ~120 performances.

Unless something's changed, first day of rehearsal is September 17, so I'd expect a casting announcement around then (or that week).
"

I guess they’re waiting, but one would think they’d want to announce a little earlier to drum up some excitement and buzz. Do people even know this is happening?
"

No. If rehearsal starts in about a month, the fact they haven't started to advertise it is wild to me. Haven't they learned anything from shows that barely do any promotion, run no deals, have no special events, or any cheap preview tickets like Wanted is doing?

Times are hard and people need an actual reason to spend money on your show. Even at a subscription house, what are they doing to make that happen?

Right?? For a second I thought I was having a stroke and i had made it up that this was going to be Hayes through 2nd Stage. That doesn't mean it can't close early but I'm willing to bet it won't.

Why are people talking about this like it's some random, fly-by-night production? Second Stage reliably gets top talent and has had a very solid record of programming at the Hayes.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
