A guy in the row in front of us was taking pictures of virtually every scene until Lin-Manuel Miranda, who was seated behind us, apologized for reaching over us and then tapped the offender on the shoulder and told him to put the phone away.

Please correct me if I’m wrong! But wasn’t there a part before “all I ask of you” where we hear Raoul and Christine talking…something about “the roof” but we don’t see them? I didn’t hear that on Friday and it wasn’t because of applause I think they cut it?
Can anyone confirm if they have made an accurate Christine double/doll mask in the lair scene for when Emilie is on?
I wish I had the funds (and time) to see her last night, but I will definitely be seeing her sometime in the near future. It’s wild to me that she’s only 25.

I believe I read (somewhere?) that the Doll Mask is now silver so that it works no matter who is performing the role.
"The old, creepy Christine doll that stood in the Phantom's lair, her features unmistakably white, also was out. A new doll, designed to be racially ambiguous, would debut on reopening night."

I noticed the same thing. Christine used to say something like, "To the roof, we'll be safe there!"
Yeah the "Come, we must go up! To the roof!" is gone, as is Christine's "I can't, I'm sorry" before the DJT rehearsal, she just gets up and runs out.
I also noticed that Andre no longer stumbles over "act 3 of tonight's opera!" He comes out unsure and says "we'd like to give you..." and Madame Giry walks out and bangs her walking stick and then he says "the ballet! from act 3 of tonight's opera!" without searching for it in the program.
Unrelated, but I'm also seeing reports that Emilie is going on 3x a week instead of the normal two, so if anyone can confirm her dates, that would be great. I don't expect it's in this weeks playbill, but I'm hoping they'll circulate that info soon so I can plan to see her performance probably next month.
Emilie posted her schedule on Instagram for most of November:

No better value on broadway last minute than some box seats or partial views. Good to hear this is back and doing well.

How much are box seats or partial views? Also where are the partial view seats located and how/when do you buy these seats?

Partial view seats for Phantom are mostly in the rear orchestra and are designated as such because the mezzanine overhang blocks the view of the chandelier as it completes its ascent and begins its descent, and blocks the view of the Phantom when he's on the catwalk above the proscenium. These seats are sold on Telecharge with a notification.

Box seats are around $50 (well, they were before the pandemic) and are sold at the box office. I would recommend asking which side of the house you’re on (I’ve only ever been house right and have always wanted the left box) and if you’re the front box or back, as I found the front box to be too close and missed a lot more than the back box. Be warned, the seats are tight if the box is full, but it’s a great price for a really close seat. I don’t recommend for first timers as you miss things like the Red Death appearance and a few things upstage, but can’t complain about the price.
the highest I heard them sold for was about $80 during spring break or other holiday weeks.
So, seeing as they are no longer using doubles, does this mean they are singing most of the title song live now?
I was there tonight, the show is in great shape, but oh man that audience. Carrying on full conversations, and the cell use was wild. I get that people are excited to be back at theater, but whatever happened to class?

I don’t recall the use of doubles being the reason for lipsynching the title song, was it not the sounds of the boat and set mechanics?

Lavieboheme, I'm curious where you sat where the audience behaved so badly? I saw the show twice last weekend plus two more shows and all of the audiences were perfect----no talking, no phones, no loud snacks--nothing. And hey---isn't it great that they no longer have people selling food in the aisles like Broadway theaters are baseball stadiums?
Not sure why it matters if the title song is prerecorded or not.
Apologies if there is a better thread to post this in, but I am seeing Phantom on Thursday evening (7pm) and am wondering how much earlier I should be there because of the vaccination-checks? I haven't been to a show since they came back so don't know how long the process takes.
Most houses are opening up 45-60 min before the show, the line goes pretty fast if you have everything out and ready to check. I got there around 7:20 for an 8pm and had plenty of time to get in and wander casually to my seat and get settled.

On the flip side, I've shown up to shows about 10 minutes before curtain and still gotten to my seat before the actual show time, and most shows I've been to have started 5-10 minutes after the posted time (though if you want to use the bathroom or look at merch I'd recommend going earlier). The theater security has gotten used to doing checks and it goes pretty smoothly as long as you have your vaccine card/ID ready to present.

I was also nervous about this before seeing my first 2 shows after the shutdown. The line moved very fast and I was in the theatre by 45 minutes to curtain.

Last weekend, I saw Phantom twice, along with Caroline, or Change and Jagged Little Pill. All four performances started late, presumably due to the more involved arrival processes currently in place.

While I haven't been back to phantom, all the other shows I saw got me through the line almost immediately. I'd say it's faster than before the vaccination checks.

The use of doubles has not been completely eliminated. Before the shut down there were two sets of doubles, one that did the cross on deck and down into the trap after the dressing room scene and another that does the back and forth along the travelator. The travelator doubles are still part of the staging, it's just that on deck set that have been cut.

oh interesting! I had read some discussion that they were cut completely, that makes sense.

I was under the impression that the second cross on the travelator was the actual pair, and that they're doing the whole thing now since they made Christine enter the mirror faster while he's saying "I am your angel of music, come to me angel of music" (he's still singing it when Raoul enters the dressing room)
Guess I'll have to go again to make sure haha
