This is the prime example of two things being true. We know Cheno is a practicing Christian (make of that whatever you will) and we also know she is a fierce advocate for the LGBTQ community. We also know she is not a supporter of Donald Trump, yet if you read online here you’d think she was out burning rainbow flags in the street while passing MAGA hats out to people.

This whole thing with her just makes me think of the quote “Don't let perfect be the enemy of good.” She’s not perfect (and I GUARANTEE you that you aren’t, either) but she’s done a FUUUUUCKTON of good for our community so a little grace shown to her when she says what she did to DiLella, honestly doesn’t seem like too much to ask."

I want her to clarify what part of Charlie Kirk she agrees with. She made that remark and owes it to her fan base. I want her to think before she speaks as a public figure. It's not too much to ask. It just takes accountability which a lot of these "celebrities" seem allergic to.

Just watched the interview. That very brief conversation, which is precisely what it was— not an apology, ain’t it. I’m sure she felt she could have her cake and eat it too, and presumably has for years. Would she feel the same way about queer rights if they were not directly linked to her career, and by extension, her wallet? We’ll never know. But to hang her hat on the topic of religion is a lazy coward’s way out. Two things can always be true, but I fail to see how someone’s controversial rhetoric about the community that keeps you gainfully employed, arguably the only ones doing so consistently, should feel fine about her co-signing hurtful talking points regarding any community. 
 
But I suppose those too are just “some perspectives”, right?

Shaming works when people are ashamed of what they have done. If she has no contrition or did  nothing wrong then it will not work. Is your theory "people are never ashamed? " cause that seems ludicrous.

Will that really change your mind about her? Would you suddenly want to see the show, and all will be forgiven? It seems like a lose lose for her and I think the only reason she clarified was so her show won't tank, honestly.

It's so weird. She doesn't owe anyone anything. Just like she doesn't owe a fan an autograph, she doesn't owe anyone any further statement on how she feels. 

If you disagree with her and are disappointed in her, that is understandable, don't support her, if you want to see the show, go see it with the incredible Sherrie. But the entitlement that she needs to answer to your questions is truly bizarre.

My initial reaction to the last quotes in the article and what she said in the video interview is that she seems to imply that while she supports the LGBTQ+ community, she’s also a Christian, and that being Christian requires her to show compassion, even to those who’ve done great harm. That may explain the impulse, but posting a public eulogy for someone who actively harmed the LGBTQ+ community, among others, was irresponsible. She’s acknowledged the harm and seems to understand how much she let people down. Considering her show starts previews soon, I don’t think we’ll get much more from her on this,

She has never said she agreed with his comments about LGBTQ people. For all we know, she shared his perspective about faith and, like the rest of the sane world, didn't think he deserved to be killed.

It seems she should have gone the Nicole route - have your team write a carefully-worded message that you post on social media and then avoid the press unless in a group situation like the Hollywood Reporter roundtable.

But taking the time to do an on camera interview and then having almost nothing to say ...? I would love to know if this is what her team decided she should do or if she went rogue. She could have apologized, she could have said she believes anyone who accepts Jesus into their heart goes to heaven no matter what else they did or said in their life and everyone else can deal with it. She could lie, she could tell the truth, ANYTHING. Now, as this thread indicates, she's just opened herself up AGAIN for people to come up with their own interpretations of what she thinks. Her goal here was to neutralize the controversy, get the focus back on her show and SELL TICKETS. But now the Queen of Versailles thread has been derailed into a "How do you solve a problem like Kristin?" thread!

I don't think she secretly hates gay people or that her self-identification as an LGBTQ ally is insincere. At worst she's probably a bit naive, but her crisis-management instincts are not serving her. I think she would have been better offer staying quiet.
