Per Michael Paulson in the NYT:
”The show is about a sweet young English cinema usher who flies to New York to attend the second wedding of his estranged father; the bride asks her sister, an American barista, wry by comparison, to pick him up. The two of them spend two days exploring New York, and getting to know each other, before the ceremony.”

I know you blink on Broadway and your running costs go over a $1m per week.
This will be coming to Broadway as a developed show, they would be using sets and lighting from Cambridge, which in turn may have the sets from London? So I wonder with just 2 actors what the weekly running costs looks like. I would be surprised if as well as Six and mincemeat, if it goes over $600k.
I just adored this in Cambridge especially Tutty who I believe will earn a Tony nom. He was really outstanding. I am so happy to see this again and thank the team for the $88 preview period. I just secured my tickets and can’t wait.

You absolutely will. It’s like being hugged by your favorite rom-com and you leave feeling, I don’t know, hope?
This is being touted as the lowest running cost for a musical on Broadway - about $500K.
To put that in perspective, flop musicals like REAL WOMEN, DAYS OF WINE & ROSES, SWEPT AWAY, OHIO, DANCIN, TAMMY FAYE, and LEMPICKA still would have lost money more weeks than not prior to posting closing notice. But all might have lasted a bit longer and perhaps built up sales.
On the other hand, shows like BOOP, REDWOOD, and WONDERFUL WORLD would have made a profit nearly every week if they were this cheap.
It also means if it starts as bad as something like MAYBE HAPPY ENDING, it has a much shorter climb to profitability if it gets great reviews and buzz.
The key art is not great, and it’s tough to sell a Broadway musical on “charming” and “two characters.” The winter could be tough for a little show. But hopefully there’s a healthy reserve or someone willing to put up extra money if things get dire. And they could probably get by with closing the balcony until they NEED to open it.

This belongs off-bway. Crazier things have happened, but I'll be shocked if it succeeds on Broadway.

If the season continues to remain this dry for new musicals, this has strong potential for payoff. Hope they can stick it out through dreaded January.

What the hell is the matter with you?

Screaming frantically about (the virtually non-existent phenomenon of) foreigners taking jobs from Americans seems more like a right-wing MAGA thing to me.

Well there’s the cast of Mincemeat who’ll be employed for the better part of a year.
But I suppose you have a point, kdogg. As long as no white American men or women are getting more jobs than they have a right to, the rabble will be quiet and we won’t anticipate a riot.

Just wanted to let you know that while you are over here derailing yet another thread with your absolute nonsense, the three billy goats have successfully gotten across the bridge, so you better get back under it, Troll, before anymore wildlife makes it across.

Here you go. Put in EARLYCAKE2 for the promo code.
BTW, it looks like the $88 special price is for Sunday and Tuesday performances.

It does."
I actually think the balcony is better than the mezzanine, which does not have enough 'steepness'. If you are past the third row, you have to struggle to see anything in front of you. I had a horrible experience at The Prom...I could barely see the choreography.
Thanks to those who shared the info about the $88 seats. I was looking for a Sunday night show for my next trip in November. Got two orchestra seats on the aisle! The total is cheaper than one ticket to RAGTIME.

The Ethel Barrymore is vacant and without a booking. Perhaps the Longacre will cost less for the show to play in?

No, it doesn't work that way. The vast majority of shows do not get to choose their theatre. They work with a landlord (in this case, the Shubert Org), and they are offered a house based on availability and approximate size needs and the whims of Shubert leadership.
There is probably something else already lined up for the Barrymore.

Not even... already sold out.
Good for them! Bad for me...
There are plenty of $88 orchestra and mezz seats still available.
However with the promo code EARLYCAKE2 you must complete purchase by 9:59 AM on August 13, 2025.
You're so right @Melissa25, thank you!
Forgot to enter the code *face to palm*

That's what I thought too when I saw it in Boston. I think it could have done the Oh Mary route and open off-Bway first, build buzz in the NYC theater community, and if it sells out, then move to Broadway. I think Sam and Christiani are great though they don't have the name power yet to sell tickets.
I sent the link and code to friends in NYC and even though tickets are only $88, only one friend bought a ticket. The others are waiting to hear the rush policy.
