$57 dollars for one of the worst balconies on Broadway? I hope they have one hell of a rush/lotto. Ugh.

Oh geez. I second the rush/lotto comment.

I wonder if, if this was England, we would be complaining that the highest price is £55.
A little pricey.

Oh well. It's not like it's a life saving antibiotic. If you don't think it's worth it, stay home.

How much was the Seagull balcony? I felt like it was kind of close?
I wanted to sit orchestra level for this, but I don't know If I can splurge THAT much. Jeez.
The balcony pricing is ridiculous!! Hopefully they have some decent discount codes, or better yet with these prices this will probably end up on tdf.
I may have to eat my words, but I honestly don't think Zeta-Jones will be able to sell out the Kerr the way Craig and Jackman are selling out the Schoenfeld.
This was overpriced in London too (though not that much!), probably one of the reasons it closed early.
Well the Kerr has less seats. I think the combination of Zeta-Jones and Lansbury could possibly sell out the theater, but you never know. I do hope there is a good discount, at least during previews.

Fabulous. So if I want a good seat to this, I will have to take out a second mortgage. Excellent.
The balcony is the worst part, because the rest of the prices are (sadly) almost in line with what other shwos charge. But, that balcony is not even worth $25, let alone $52, considering how awful the site lines are up there.
The only thing I can think of is that they're doing this so that when an $85 discount offer comes out, it seems generous.
I imagine that, at least in previews, they'll have some kind of discount. I don't think either woman will sell the place out at full price, at least not before the reviews come out (and then, only if they're rapturous).
I actually love the balcony at the Walter Kerr, but not for $52.
also, weren't those seats about $30 for Grey Gardens?

Yes, they were much cheaper for Grey Gardens.
I paid what they're charging for the balcony to sit in the mezzanine at Grey Gardens. And that wasn't with a discount.
Guys, producers always price their tickets high so that they aren't screwed when they issue a discount code.
Think about it: if they need to sell every seat at $70 to break even, and they set the price at $70, then if even one person uses a discount, they won't break even.
If they set every seat at $90 and then issue discounts, the people using discounts and the people paying full price will cancel each other out and they'll average $70, making it possible to break even.
Furthermore, they don't know how much people are willing to pay until they ask for it. If nobody is willing to pay that much, they can always lower the price, but they can't raise it later on if they think people will pay more (I know it has happened, but it is very, very rare and very, very risky).
I agree with Yero. Also, I don't see anything terribly wrong with the pricing, except that they are charging about $10-15 more than your average ticket price for orchestra and front mezzanine seats. Seeing as who is involved, it is understandable.
wow.. that is kinda lame.. I guess it's because of the cast featuring Zeta-Jones

Well, the mezzanine pricing is actually double what it was for Grey Gardens.
I had posted this a couple days ago, and yes, I'm still outraged. I will be waiting for a discount code.
...and adamgreer, you're correct, when an $85 discount code comes out, we will all be so grateful (even though $85 is way more than I prefer to spend for a Broadway show).
I guess I won't be seeing NIGHT MUSIC too many times, unless something more affordable becomes available.
WAT---It's a real shame. You're the exact "repeat patron" they should be loving and embracing. And they've priced you right out.
I'm guessing these producers are living at the turn of the last century in Sweden. They must not realize we're in a recession now.
Or, they must think their Zeta-Jones casting is "recession-proof."
Who knows? Maybe she has such a hefty price tag that they had to raise their prices to make a profit.
Either way, somebody's head is buried in the sand.
With the dreadful sight lines and need to sit all the way forward on your seats in the balcony, no show at the Kerr should be charging more than $30 up there. I don't care what it is or who is in it.
I know that every show needs to make money, but the rate of ticket inflation on Broadway is out of control. Isn't part of the point of this production how "small" it is? Are we just paying hand over fist to be near CZJ? Ugh.

You are absolutely correct about this, Besty. If this were somewhat affordable, I would probably be seeing it 6 times at least. At these prices, it may only be 2-3 times.

How come aisle seating is $25 more and you have to buy two tickets? As George Gershwin would say How long has this been going on?
I think the producers can justify the price because they are probably paying Z-Jones $10,000 per week.
Plus Angela Lansbury just won another Tony. And as morbid as it sounds, you know everyone is thinking "Is this going to be her last Broadway appearance?"
On the other hand, scientists are saying that this winter is going to be cold, bitter and snowy because El Nino winds haven't been as warm. I wonder if they are going to have to discount heavily in January.
"If nobody is willing to pay that much, they can always lower the price"
When has this EVER happened? A show can be doing 12% capacity and producers would still never lower the prices. They would consider that way too embarrassing to admit they made a mistake.
When has this EVER happened?
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN comes to mind.
"YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN comes to mind."
True, but didn't they only lower the prices of their premium tickets?
