Posted: 4/30/13 at 9:46amI think Lesli Margherita got snubbed for Best Featured Actress in a musical for Matilda. I am also surprised Fiona Show didn't get nominated and Chaplin didn't get nominated for Best Costumes.

Obligatory post about Jessie Mueller. She won the Tony Award of my heart. <3
Also thought Drood should've been up for Costumes, Sound Design, and Jim Norton should've been nominated for Best Actor. Non-Drood: Lilla Crawford should've been nominated.

Why don't they simply nominate every show, actor, director, writer, designer, stagehand, dresser, musician, and audience member? Then no one would have to complain. Oh, no - they would complain that X didn't actually win.
Maybe the Tonys should be like a suburban soccer league - just give everyone an award.

Posted: 4/30/13 at 10:14amI'm not sure how thinking there are performances or productions or design elements that are better than ones that were nominated suggests an "everybody-gets-an-award" mentality...

Posted: 4/30/13 at 11:01amI still haven't seen Macbeth, but based on what everyone was saying I thought for sure Alan would get a nod.

Hell, I thought for sure he was gonna WIN! John Tiffany also deserved
a nomination, maybe a win. The production really comes together brilliantly, but I guess the folks who matter don't think so.

Posted: 4/30/13 at 11:57amI would have absolutely put THE OTHER PLACE in over THE TESTAMENT OF MARY. And I would have put Rachel Bay Jones in over every other woman in the category...even Andrea Martin.

Posted: 4/30/13 at 12:04pmI agree. The Other Place was the best play I saw all season. And I agree with rOcKs--I thought Margherita was more deserving of a nomination than Ward.

Alan Cumming and/or Macbeth not being nominated in my biggest disappointment.
I agree The Other Place over The Testament of Mary too, I thought it was a better play.
Wish Hands on a Hardbody was nominated too.

Posted: 4/30/13 at 12:17pmReally surprised that neither Fiona Shaw nor Bette Midler got nominated. Also, Alan Cumming, although I didn't particularly care for it.

Posted: 4/30/13 at 12:22pmI thought those 3 were locks for sure. That sucks for Cummings. If nothing, I figured they could appreciate the work he was doing.
