GOD OF CARNAGE is selling into June, so I would move the Jacobs into the "possibly vacant" list. It's going to be interesting to see how the new cast is received.
Also, it's possible that the Belasco renovation won't be complete by the time a new show would need to open before the Tony cut-off date.

I'd say Feinstein will take the Lyceum (he's played there before), Dame Edna would take the Music Box (if it opens up, it's played there before), and Enron would take the Broadhurst.

I wouldn't imagine the confirmed productions are headed for theatres that are already announced vacant. The owners are always eager to fill their houses when possible, and announcing your theatre gives investors and the public the sense that the show is ABSOLUTELY confirmed.
That said, I hope that Enron doesn't take the Broadhurst. Mary Stuart, and even Equus and Hamlet have had trouble selling out that theatre. It's in an awkward middle, as it's too big to be a small house and too small to be a large house. I think they might be holding out for the Music Box or the Lyceum. I would imagine that these houses would also be a good fit for the Dame Edna/Michael Feinstein show.
I'm also personally hoping that Everyday Rapture will sneak into the Golden for a limited run next spring/summer, but we'll see.

Well the Marquis will definately get a new show for Spring.
I wouldn't be suprised if the St.James and Shubert Theatres got new tenants around spring too. I'm guessing the Neil Simon is getting Love Never Dies in the Autumn and hope Ragtime will run until the Late Summer 2010
Sister Act is planning to close in London Summer 2010 and got to Broadway.

My guess is Ragtime will not close by then. I think it will be a great hit and sell very well after the reviews and Tony Awards.
And why would they close Sister Act in London? Aren't they selling fine?

#90re: The 2009-2010 Broadway real estate thread

Oh really? Well, either way I'm very excited for it!
I think it could be a huge success but the size of the Marquis really scares me. Although the location for the show seems absolutely perfect. A Frank Sinatra-inspired dance extravaganza smack in the middle of Times Square? Seems flawless.
But...for some reason, I'm a bit unsure if it'll be a hit or not. It's not a JERSEY BOYS-style show; it's ALL dancing. Hmm...

Movin' Out did very well in a biggish style theater.
Is the show similar in vein to that? Like, is there a band on stage with a lead singer?
#93re: The 2009-2010 Broadway real estate thread
Posted: 11/8/09 at 2:03amI haven't seen it but I've heard there is a live band with Sinatra's vocals played over it. And some of the vocals are apparently brand new. And I don't know if there is a plotline or not like there was in MOVIN' OUT & THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'. I'd assume so, but I'm not sure.

Catch Me If You Can and Minsky's are not expected to open in the spring. Haven't heard a word about Everyday Rapture either, for that matter.
Belasco is in the midst of renovation and will not be available for spring.
You can add Henry Miller's Theatre as a possibly vacant theatre in the spring.

It made the Tony cutoff, don't worry. Performing if and when closed, that's another thing.
