I have a feeling the ceremony will feel pretty just and fair tonight.

Aaron Tveit -- Chess (Best Actor in a Musical)
Joshua Boone -- Joe Turner's Come and Gone (Best Supporting Actor in a Play)
MOST DISAPPOINTED BY NOMINATION:
Hannah Cruz (Chess) -- Screeched her was through her performance, hurting ears in the process
Andre de Shields (Cats) -- Because he will probably win, and he really doesn't deserve to

Nominating Ana Gasteyer over September L Davis is unacceptable!!

Jarethan,
Agree with both of those disappointments. Hannah literally screeched the entire time, and the two people I was with said they both wanted to cover their ears. Just awful. Reminded me of the screeching Evita in 2012. Jesus Christ.
And no one should win a Tony simply because they are 80. Andre earned his Tony with Hadestown (brilliant performance), but this year Ben and Ali outshines him entirely.

I love Hannah, but she made me involuntarily wince whenever she sang 😭. However, my friend loved her and thought she was better than Lea. Opinions and tastes are SOOO different...and this musical brings out the most extreme spectrum of reactions from the audience (and critics).

Both Sydney James Harcourt and Max Clayton certainly should have been nominated for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

I'm shocked people criticize Hanna's performance, she was the highlight for me and completely stole the show. I saw Chess in very early previews and found her vocals and overall performance more memorable than Lea's.
Speaking of Andre De Shields, doesn't honorary Tony award exist for this specific reason? The man looked very old and very fragile on that stage. He didn't have the same presence he had in Hadestown. I want Ali to win tonight.

Not only do I think Kurtz should have been nommed, she would have absolutely been my vote no question.

Ah yes, the "too old to win a competitive award" award.
No, honorary award does not mean you get it when you're fragile and nobody cares if you're crushing on some twink. Ageism.

Not sure how to interpret your last comment. DeShields did not give a performance. He was there and he walked across the stage a couple of times, with the aid of someone else. He clearly loves to be on=stage, and good for him, but I really kept wondering whether he was going to fall. That's NOT entertainment.

You do realize the character is named Old Deuteronomy. I saw him recently in Tartuffe and he looked amazing and in good spirits

I do not accept that logic as a defense of a non-performance was cringe-worthy.

Cool story bro. That doesn't mean you just magically get a Tony. If he wins, they are simply rewarding him for being a goddamned legend in this business, that's all. Ali and Ben do much, much more work on stage and are much more deserving.

Lea Michelle gave me goosebumps. She deserved the nomination.

And that was truly the biggest snub of the season. She is a better, stronger singer than anyone who was nominated in both female categories.

You have no idea his sexual orientation and you're disgusting for suggesting anything about it. Congratulations to the person who actually deserved the award tonight!

Wow, the Tonys got best revival wrong. But after Sunset winning - and Evita around the corner they must've been scared the traditional revival might fall -- even when it is not nearly as smart, artistic or creative. shame.

You know it was NPH who referred to the whole cast of The Lost Boys as twinks in the opening number, does being so ignorant burn you love?

I still think Linda Emond was a major oversight. But I'm decidedly on Team Becky Shaw, since it's one of the most wildly entertaining nights on Broadway. I haven't sat in a house that laughed that much since before the lockdown.
