I agree! The 2nd National Tour is not "chopped liver"!!!!! They have the talent, stage experience and Broadway plays in addition to Jersey Boys, to get recognized!

I totally hope that next Thursday's Macy's SF appearance will be a turning point in attracting more fans to watch the show. That store is extremely busy, people from all walks of life, young and old, shop at this store, and is the perfect venue for this appearance.

The Pride parade and festival would be perfect for them as well to promote the show. There can never be too much entertainment for this yearly celebration in SF.

I'm with you on the "chopped liver" vibe. Sure, this cast is going to make a splash in Chicago, but they still have a lot of time left here.

I was bored so I checked the road grosses for the show on Variety.com and they've been increasing for the past 3 weeks. Hopefully this trend continues. I provided the links to the articles, just scroll down to SF.

You're right Lizzie, that schedule is insanely tight. But if they're not performing at pride, I wonder why they canceled shows this coming Sunday. I can see that because of the parade some people would have trouble getting around downtown most of the day, but I don't think that's a big enough reason to cancel a show.

Spelling Bee had a terrible turnout the day of the parade last year (I went to Bee that day), so I wonder if they were just nervous. I think both the Giants and As were playing at home, too.

Good to hear grosses are going up!

It's gonna be a mess [downtown] this weekend- with all the ppl that are coming for the parade, and with the Giants playing.

Even with all the stuff that will be going on, it would've been a good time to boost advertisments because of all the ppl that are coming from out of town (and they usually stay a few days before/after).
I have been seeing the commercial more often tho.

I've been searching the internet to see if there is a color version of that shot out there, but no luck.

Edit: I'm suprised they haven't added the production shots of the SF/Chicago cast to the official website, or the last's cast b-roll.

I went down to Civic Center today, and there was an SHN booth. They had a biggg JB poster (and mini ones for JB/ other plays); I was standing around there for a few mins- the booth workers were like 'eh', and barely telling ppl they could sign up to win Avenue Q tixs.
And, if anyone likes Hairspray, they had a booth for the movie (giving out tattoos, mini posters, and head cutouts).

Thanks for that info Grumpita. If the SHN booth is there tomorrow, they should have the JB cast signing autographs. After all they aren't having a show tomorrow. And thanks for the info about the Avenue Q tickets. Might stop by tomorrow since I'll be in the area to see if they're still doing the ticket giveaway.

Ha, and I wanted to ask if I could have the big poster =D
I got one of those fans, too. I was gonna ask if they had an of the mini JB posters, but I figured I can get one (and signed) if I go to Macy's.
There was another booth, but I'm not sure what it was, I only saw a poster for Kiki & Herb(?)

mll- The SHN booth was right in front of Wells Fargo.

That was the ACT booth. They were giving out flyers for this season, and I asked the guy about the Sweeney tour cast. Has it been announced? (I'm out of the loop in Sweeney world.) Most of the names flew out of my brain, but a good deal of the revival cast will be in it.

Thanks Grumpita. Now I won't have to search around for the booth, I'll probably head to the booth before I go to the movies. Going to see Showbusiness tomorrow with a friend at Opera Plaza Cinema

I know it was announced that Judy Kaye is playing Mrs. Lovett and David Hess is playing Sweeney Todd. I don't know if they announced the rest of the cast yet.

hahahahaha I didn't see that comment. You must have posted it while I was typing my earlier post. I wish you would have asked it so you could tell us their reaction.

I wonder when this was, because I watched most of the broadcast on TV today, but didn't see them. Then again, KRON only broadcasted up until the last hour or so of the parade.

I saw the Sherry cast at the Ahmanson theater a few days ago! It was great seeing this cast again, and the energy was great. I also got to take a friend who's never seen the touring cast before, so it was great watching her experience it. It's so odd how really different lines get laughs in the LA audience, compared to the SF audience (like in LA, everyone laughs after Norm Waxman says, "I'll be honest with you Gyp, we like their songs".)

i got a picture of the casting board in the lobby because I recognized some new names. I think they are working behind the scenes though, b/c the program lists the same actors as in SF. oh and I took another picture of a sign that I never saw in SF. (Makes you wonder, what kind of herbs are in those cigarettes? :)

When I went last night they added "and the use of authentic Jersey dialogue" or something like that to that sign...The mother sitting behind me started freaking out about her daughter hearing all the curse words during the scene with Frankie in the car with the two guys.

how funny - i've seen the authentic jersey language sign before at the curran and at the ahmanson. at the stage door on broadway, some kids were there with their parents and bobby spencer told them, "You blocked your ears during the bad words, right?"

i guess it's not as bad as kids going to see avenue q because they think it's a children's puppet show.

i thought that the "authentic jersey dialogue" sign was inside the lobby somewhere, not outside by the box office, but i could be wrong. it didn't seem as visible to me as the strobe light sign. Updated On: 6/25/07 at 12:38 PM
