I was easily unimpressed with Rick, but the more I actually focused on him, and NOT compared him to anyone, the more I feel satisfied with his performance. Of course if you compare him to Jarrod, Chris, JLY, etc,. you will just pick his performance apart because everyone is different. We also have to remember that he is the one getting paid to do it so he is doing something right. And although a couple of you walk out, extra critical, thinking his voice sounded nasty etc, the rest of the crowd doesn't and love him and wish they could listen to him all day long.
Enjoy the last days in San Francisco! Soon there will be no time left to criticize! WEEEEE!
P.s. Bryan McElroy went from being over the top and awkward to being one of the most consistent and loveable characters (and stagedoor personalities) in the cast.
I know Rick has been with the show since last year, but he only recently stepped into Frankie FULL time. Not two days a week, etc. Full time starting Nov. 20th-- he is still learning (to me). He still has time to grow and he is getting more comfortable as the show goes on. Some people take longer than others and it is OK because this is their "Vegas Out Of Town Tryout." Plus, with the sick bugs going around the theatre, I am surprised he is still sounding as great as he does in the majority of the show.
I definately think that Bryan's gestures toned down.
Yeah, he's toned down his gestures alot from the first time I saw the current cast. If he kept that up he probably would have accidently smacked somebody during the show. I actually didn't like his Tommy at first. Didn't have any of that charm factor and just came off as a complete meathead a-hole. But after a few viewings it's grown on me. I think it just didn't sit right with me because it was a very different take from Deven and Jeremy's.
But let me tell you, he was spitting like a fountain at the end of the show
Well everybody spits, but Bryan sweats like crazy. He seems to be soaked by the time they get to Walk Like A Man. He should think about spraying himself down with anti-perspirant before a show.
On what mll85 said, I should mention that this is the first cast I've actually been able to smell during the finale... Not that it stinks, but, oh never mind...

Did anyone in Seattle see him go on? I'm sure he did great, but let's hope the acting thing works out because I don't think he'd do well as a meteorologist. Updated On: 12/25/07 at 05:57 PM
In case anyone was interested, all the swings in the SF!Vegas cast have now officially had their first performance.
Colin was Hank Majewski on 12/22/07 Mat. - He did a lot of different choices than what Kristofer does. The copy he was a little more lazy and... lazy. Everything he pretty much did, he was great. Very funny Mika, etc.
And Mike was Norm Waxman on 12/23/07. - Mike just has that sort of rugged look about him, which is nice. You could tell as soon as he walked onstage that he was thrilled to be up in the spotlight finally. At times, he seemed a little bit too cautious about everything going on around him. Often would run his fingers over his mustache (to make sure it stayed on, it seemed). He missed his catwalk entrance during "Earth Angel" and you could hear him trying to light up his cigarette in the mic. Of course, those are all cosmetic things and not truly important, just some fun little diddys. All in all, they are kicking ass. Really good first performances, etc.
If only Graham went on for Frankie before they left. Now that would be a good Christmas present.
Damn, missed Colin and Mike going on by either one performance or one day. Was hoping to catch a show with one of the swings on. Only got to see Lauren go on for 1.5 shows. Updated On: 12/26/07 at 12:50 PM
It's OK, Teenes. Some people here just don't understand that some people here are fans of the SHOW, not of any particular actor; and that those opinions which some people take as put-down for actors are, in reality, a sincere attempt to protect the high standards and integrity of the show itself.
For the most part, I feel like mostly everything said about this cast was positive. Of course, we throw in some flubs and fun things that happen to please one another, but I don't think any of us don't appreciate the actors or the show at all.
If we didn't respect the show, we wouldn't see it 30+, even 50+ times ;o). After that... well... 2nd performance, you start to go because of the actors you love (for me, anyways).
I'm seeing the tour in February when it comes to Tampa (very excited!) on a Sunday evening. Touring shows in Tampa play Tues-Fri evenings, and Sat and Sun matinees and evenings. Is the alternate Frankie on during Sunday night performances?
I've never read this particular thread before because I haven't needed too and it would take FOREVER to read all 81 pages now so if someone could just answer my question even though I'm sure it has been discussed on here many times before it would be greatly appreciated. My mom and I saw the Broadway cast when she came to visit me and she LOVED the show (as did I) but she now has the opportunity to see the touring cast in Cincinnati when it comes in Feb or March or something. She is really worried about going though because she already saw the broadway cast (and it was the original cast) and is afraid she will be disappointed. If it was the Broadway cast again she would jump at the chance (even with the cast change that recently occurred) but has anyone seen both the broadway original cast and then the touring cast? How did it compare and were you at all disappointed? Was it worth the money to see the show again with the touring cast? Sorry that thing was kind of long.

I believe during the tour's entire CA run, the alternate Frankie went on Tues. and Sunday nights. Not sure if they're sticking with the same sched. for other states. And, of course, other cast members have filled in if the main and alternate Frankies cannot go on their regular scheds. Enjoy.
When the show started in SF, Jarrod Spector did Tuesday evenings and Wednesday matinees and when Rick Faugno became the alternate, he had the same schedule. Joseph Leo Bwarie had that schedule as well with the holiday cast, but John Michael Dias did Wednesday matinees and Sundays.

I could get killed for this, but when I saw the Broadway cast in October, I couldn't think of one person I liked better than any of their counterparts I'd seen on either tour.

With the exception of Michael Longoria as Joey, I've liked every role better when played by a person in the tour casts. And now that Longoria is Frankie... god, I miss the tours. The only reason I don't like living in NY.
Oh my goodness, I didn't realize you really were my soulmate!
I didn't dislike anyone in the Broadway cast, but maybe it was a combination of so many of them having been in the show for much longer than anyone in either tour, and the "you always love your first" syndrome.
I liked Longoria's Joey but still miss Rick Faugno's.
I was expecting a flamewar to happen over what Lizzie posted, or is it to early to tell.
But anyway, it's the final weekend for JB in San Francisco. I'm sure it's going to be crazy at the Curran with people trying to see the show and find any available tickets. It looked like it already was last week when I saw the show. I have to echo Burban's last post. I'm sure alot of us who saw the show over and over again have respect for it and the actors involved, in all the companies that passed through the city. I know I'm going to miss having the production running in SF. Updated On: 12/28/07 at 03:55 PM
So last show in SF, and probably last show in CA, maybe even the West coast for a very long time (damn that Vegas exclusivity clause, please let there be a time limit to that). But anyway, it went off with no problems. Glad SF got this engagement since it's the only time this cast would be doing the full show because it's probably being edited down for Vegas. And the fact that a few principals are moving on to different compaines. Won't go into too much detail because I'd probably just be repeating myself. But will say that the cast ended the run with a top notch performance. But I will mention that I have never seen Mika's first entrance on stage get that big of a laugh from the audience for that long. Or that big or a response to "Love Muffin".
