Ditto, ljay. Although I haven't seen you offer much of an opinion. You're too busy policing everyone else's.
And mscarlyon--you're still not reading the previous posts where people who HAVE seen it say she looks mid-30s. 35. And yes, I can form an opinion of how she looks based on a photograph. I don't need your "permission" to form an opinion either.
Would I have a different opinion of how she "acts" if I saw her in the show? Perhaps. But I didn't base my opinion on that and never said I did. Others, however, have.

^ They're gone now, but there were full audio recordings of her "Send in the Clowns" and "You Must Meet My Wife" (now "Weekend in the Country is all that's left) and she SOUNDS too young in all of them. She doesn't sound wise, world-weary, or anything.

Full audio of the production is easily available, and she sounds sensational.

I didn't realize there was a difference between sounding 35 and sounding 45.

I'm with Husk on this one. There's a big difference between sounding good and sounding the part.
I think it's pretty outrageous that Equity would allow Waddingham to transfer, since as Besty mentioned earlier, they are basically saying that no American actress could do this part justice.
I especially can't stand the fact that they have Marin Mazzie, who is in every way ideal for the part, as a "backup" when she should have been their first choice if they were not gonna use an A-lister.

I just think that an American could do this role justice and don't see the need to bring someone across the pond to play it. She may be wonderful but this is the Broadway Production and I just wish they would let all of the wonderful actresses in NYC have a chance to play this role.
Genius lasts longer than beauty.

The producers are trying to get an American actress in the role, but Nunn is INSISTING on Hannah.

^ If Nunn isn't careful, he may find himself without backers.

Lose Nunn!

I'm not uninamimously supporting Hannah Waddingham for Desiree, just that the logic is indisputable that whoever plays it *can* be 40, and that this is believable and as intended in the London production.

Ya know, it just sort of occured to me (Correct me if I'm wrong, because I easily could be thinking of another show), isnt' Night Music basically an Operetta? Because if so, he seems to be directing it more like a chamber musical.

Lol, ALNM is cursed never to have a revival again.
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

Yes, Night Music is basically operetta (which is why Sondheim's maxim of "rhyme implies education" doesn't apply to its characters).

uninamimously
Um...what? I don't even know how you'd pronounce that non-word.
If you meant "unanimously," one person can't "unanimously" do anything, as the definition requires multiple people to agree.
People need to relax and stop freaking out over false, unsubstantiated rumors that are being stated as truths by people who have no idea what they're talking about.

No.
Rehearsals don't start for another couple months. It will be a while before we hear anything.

Not news, but I had a crazy ass dream that Faith Prince was considering the role, but would only do it if Trevor Nunn made her an over-the-title name, and let her wear the Ursula wig. And then, mid-sentence she turned into Bette Davis.
No idea what brought it about.

It's been confirmed by my friend who knows everything that Darlene White of Antelope, South Dakota, is the only living female who has not yet been rumored for the role of Desiree.
I think it's time we through her hat in the ring.

You know, why should we limit the rumors to female actresses?
I heard the hold up is because Trevor Nunn is looking to have the part played by a man in drag?

So *THAT'S* why Harvey was auditioning! Not for Fredrick, for Desirée!
