Stephanie J Block or Megan Hilty maybe?
Can they drag-cast Sylvia? Harvey?
Kate Shindle has to be CC.

A drag queen playing Sylvia Fine would be hilarious!

Love this idea!! Emily Skinner would also be a great choice, I think!

Who cares???--you obviously do--but if it gets bums on seats and actors and all the hundreds employed to put this nonsense on to a stage, well and good.
It's like all those who look down on Andre Rieu, there is pleasure for some on all levels of entertainment.
You love that painting and I hate it---go figure.

Lea Michele for 'Fran'.
Bette Midler for 'Sylvia', but since she's a longshot - Harvey in drag !

Kacie Sheik could possibly work as Fran. Or not. I'm in two minds.

This is a WHY musical as in why does the world need the TV show turned into a musical?

BroadwayBox posted their own list of choices, 4/5 were probably taken directly from this thread. The one suggestion that was new to me was, oddly, Jackie Burns...

I don’t know if she sings, but Jenny Slate would be absolutely hilarious as Fran!

Here's the link to the story Ado Annie mentioned. My vote is definitely for Lesli Margherita.

Definitely.

I may be in the minority, but keep Lesli far away from this. I'd actually like an actress hired to create Fran. Lesli seems to be ON all the time (whether on stage or off) and I find her schtick exhausting. She's thirsty. I like the idea of Annaleigh, SJB, or Rachel. Even Kritzer is a little too histrionic for me.
I honestly don't want someone mimicking Drescher. That would just make the whole thing hollow for me. You can't replicate her, so why try?

Interesting but rather macabre choice of material - who will play the Bette Davis part?

I wonder what will become of this now that Adam has sadly passed.

I wonder what will become of this now that Fran Drescher thinks that the coronavirus outbreak was caused by 5G?

Fran was on The Kelly Clarkson Show today, and she talked about the progress being made on the musical:

I was giving this a 5% chance of actually happening. Now that I know she's an anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist, I give it a 2% chance.

I didn't know she was like that. Ugh. What a turn-off. She needs to get with Christine Ebersole.
