It was a portion of "There's A Light...."; the beginning through the part right before Riff Raff's verse.

What we've SEEN so far may be subpar, but to READ about William Ivey Long's concept for this thing's costumes is fascinating. He's a marvel.

Variety's review is out, and it is...
(Wait for it)
Not good. (Though they do like Laverne Cox.)

Posted: 10/16/16 at 1:46pmWell, if anything, I'm glad to see Annaleigh getting praise. From what we've seen and heard, I think it's incredibly deserved. But of course, she could bake a cake while poorly whistling with a pound of pennies in her mouth and I'd call that revolutionary and amazingly displayed artistry, so I'm very biased and probably shouldn't be talking until I've actually seen her in action as Columbia.

Praise? I must have missed it. Let's look at that quote again.
"Annaleigh Ashford and Christina Milian can be excellent additions to a cast, but Milian in particular is swallowed up by the production’s disinterest in her role."
It says that she can be an excellent addition to a cast. It does not say she is excellent, or even good in this or in this cast. It seems more like a backhanded compliment to me.

I suppose you could read it like that! It's very possible that was a backhanded compliment and it completely went over my head. I wasn't referring to only that, which is my mistake completely for being too vague.
Here are a couple of better examples of the praise I was referring to.
Perez Hilton was a fan after attending the premiere.
Jarrett Wieselman loved her from what he saw of the film that was shown at the TCA's.
Andrea Reiher, member of the Television Critics Association and Associate Editor for Zap2it loved what she saw from Annaleigh in the first 25 minutes shown at ComicCon.
That's just a view from memory though. Again, totally my fault for being vague, especially after that article had just been posted above me. I apologize!

Cinders, no offense but a review could say "Even though the cast did the best that they could with this steaming pile of horse sh*t of a film, its the worst thing ever made " and you'd say "They like the cast! It's a good review!"

That's not optimism, you're in denial.
I'm not the least bit surprised by this review. It really just confirmed what a lot of us already suspected from day one: That it was going to suck.
Fox’s re-imagining is a wholesome broadcast television movie musical, premiering at the kid-friendly hour of 8 p.m., and courts mainstream, millennial viewers through casting former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice and “American Idol” star Adam Lambert.
This 'Rocky Horror' is flat and Disney-fied.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
EPIC. FAIL.

I will still reserve my final judgement until I can see it for myself, but this does not make things look bright.
I am guessing it will be cute. Rocky Horror shouldn't be cute.

At this point I don't think it's even going to be laughably bad, just sad and LAME.

I suppose a remake of Rocky Horror could work. In some alternate reality, John Waters could direct it.
But a Kenny Ortega-helmed TV movie showing on Fox at 8 on a weeknight? It was never gonna be anything but skim milk.

I don't know how Kenny Ortega keeps getting these high-profile jobs. Sure, he created the phenomenon of High School Musical- a guilty pleasure of mine- but his direction has been cringe-worthy on pretty much everything else. DESCENDANTS had the potential to be such a clever, thoughtful film for kids. What we got was nonsensical plot tangents and zero character consistency.

The Hollywood Reporter review is out. Not good.
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review/rocky-horror-picture-show-lets-938951
"...it's hard not to be struck by how comparatively little inspiration director Kenny Ortega was able to get from this canned and slightly mummified remake of the cult musical and film. Not airing live and never intended to air live, The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again suffers from suffocating staging and an utter lack of reflection on the source material..."
Cox is called "distinctive" and escapes relatively unscathed, and Annaleigh Ashford receives real praise: "The only actual adrenaline jolt comes from the appearance of Kinky Boots Tony winner Ashford, who [sic] personality and talent pop onscreen so vividly that I spent much of the show wishing Columbia had more of a part."

I'll be watching. No necessarily hate-watching, but a littler nervous from the reports/reviews I've read thus far. I'd watch anything with Annaleigh Ashford though, so hoping there are a least a few good takeways!

On one hand, I'm sad a project Annaleigh is involved in is getting panned seemingly by everyone who's seen it. But on the other hand, maybe FOX will see how well liked she is and put their money into "Sweet Charity" Live! (or not live) led by Ashford? Wishful thinking.
