Autumn's voice must be very high caliber. For those who say she doesn't sound that good, if you watch seth's deconstruction, even he concedes that she does some fierce vocals during the songs. And he is a tough critic and knows what he is talking about. I think it's safe to concede that the note in "So Much Better" would at least be in good hands with Autumn.

Honestly, I think that I would prefer Bailey to Autumn, based on this week's audition. I think that LBB is a bad actress, too, so it's not like Elle's acting quality will decrease in my view.
It does seem unfair that Lauren was kicked off for something that's been an issue for ages (how young she looks) when she did very well in this week's audition.
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
I am in total shock Lauren was sent home. She did have a lot of talent! But at the same time, I still think it was kind of a good thing. Because, Bernie Telsey told her time and time again she had one of the strongest voices in the competition. Everyone said that they only thing holding her back was her age. I really think she has got a lot going for her and she will be Broadway-ready in the next five years. Also, after todays episode, I am rooting for Bailey.
To set the record straight, the role of Elle does not require a true triple threat. A Chorus Line requires a true triple threat. Legally Blonde requires a singer/actor who is a strong mover. A triple threat should be able to kick themselves in the head and do triple turns, which I don't think LBB can probably do. I am not saying the role of Elle is easy, but it is by no means a huge "technical" dancing role. Updated On: 7/15/08 at 01:37 AM
Very surprised that Lauren went home, especially having just watched the performances. She did a great job. But man, what an awful, moronic number. Seriously -- terrible!
NYC, you go do what Laura Bell Bundy has down since San Fran 8 times a week and then come back and tell us all the role's choreography takes is to be a strong mover.
MTV has hours of footage and they are choosing what parts we see on television-- who knows what they were saying to Autumn or Bailey or any of the girls to prompt them, and how it was cut and spliced to make it sound "catty" or "sweet" or whatever.
And honestly, I know it's nice to think that a person is born to be on Broadway and everything is going to be puppies and flowers and standing ovations, but being an actor is hard. Maybe no one wanted to hear that right then, but that doesn't make it less true.

None of the choreography Elle does is technically difficult...it is just high energy. She needs the ability to do a high energy number and to be able to sing at the end. I don't believe Kate Rockwell is known as being a strong dancer and she is the understudy. My point is, with the right amount of time (and good breath support) any of these girls could "dance" the role of Elle in terms of the actual dance moves. None of them, on the other hand, could probably make it through Cats or A Chorus Line.
The breakdown for the ensemble roles on audition postings on actors' equity calls for "strong singing voices, sharp comic skills, and movement ability". If the ensemble only needs strong movement, then saying Elle needs to be a strong mover is a fair assessment!
I actually found Baileys attitude even poorer than Autumns. The whole "Ugh I cant stand to be in the same room with them..they're ruining my pink positive outlook..I don't have to practice as much as them" attitude was SOO prima-donna, it's not even funny. I think Lauren is actually a better dancer than Bailey, and DEFINITELY better vocally so I wish there could have been a Autumn/Lauren finale..but the judges failed me. haha I'm rotting for Autumn as of now because dancing can be taught. Being REAL cannot.

It wasn't those comments that bothered me so much, though. It was Autumn's sudden sense of entitlement to win, because she was 28 and seemingly deserved it more because she was 28. It was as if she felt that because she was 28 and the other girls weren't yet 20, that automatically meant that she deserved the role more. Updated On: 7/15/08 at 07:03 AM
Aren't Bailey and Rhiannon 19 years old? It's really quite silly that age is a factor for Lauren, but not the other two.
I understood what Autumn was saying. She didn't come across as entitled, but as someone who has worked hard in their professional life. I love how people on this thread are outraged when they sense entitlement from Autumn; hello, this is BWW where most of you are probably the arrogant elitists that trawl this board. Get over it.
I have no idea to whom or what you're referring, theminutepast, but why don't you "get over it."
What's to say the other two haven't worked hard in their professional life? There are people who work hard their entire lives and never make it to Broadway.
For the record, I'm not one of them. I don't, never have, and never wanted to, work in the "biz."
I think Autumn should win just because I think she understands what it takes to be on Broadway. It's hard for the younger girls to understand I think. And, at least Autumn has toured the country in "Little Women" which I saw her in and she was fantastic! I don't know if Autumn is the most suited for the role but I think she deserves to win it. Rhiannon might have the "It" factor but she needs to go get some voice lessons. No one wants to pay, as the judges said, $120 for a ticket to hear her crack and not hit the notes. Bailey's the only other person who could win. I just don't think she's ready for it.
If you hide from yourself, be someone else for someone else's sake, that would be the greatest mistake - bare
NYC I have worked as a singer/Dancer/Actor in musicals for years and if you dont think the role of Elle Woods is triple threat you have not being paying attention
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
Autumn is a good dancer for Legally Blonde in my book. I think with the months of rehearsals, we'll all be surprised how good she looks. Autumn's voice blows me away sometimes, where Bailey's doesn't. I think she should be in the ensemble and Autumn wins.
Re: Autumn and her perceived sense of entitlement: you've go to remember, all this footage is filtered through an editing process. The editors can make her comments come across however they want.
But I do think that Autumn's comments re: the girls' B'way dreams at the dinner table were RIGHT ON. She's 28, she's been in the city for a while, she's slogged through the audition mill, been told "no" more times than "yes", and has experienced the life of a performer in NYC. You're never guaranteed another show, you watch the politics, you get your heart broken time and time again. Better that these younger girls hear it from someone who knows.
For those reasons, Autumn, to me, comes across as the "vet" of the group...and perhaps better suited emotionally to take over the role of "Elle". She can act it, she can sing it.
But good god, girl -- learn how to do a shuffle-hop-step-step-step. That tap combination ain't that hard. LOL At least they aren't maxi-fords (although there is one pullback).
