In 1984, then unknown monologist Whoopi Goldberg premiered her provocative, thought-provoking one-woman show on Broadway, torching the rulebook of traditional solo performance in one of the most electrifying debuts of the era. Now, the trailblazing work returns— reimagined for a new generation.

Emmy Award Nominee Dominique Fishback (“Swarm,” “The Deuce” ) , Tony Award winner Kecia Lewis (Hell’s Kitchen), NAACP Image Award Winner Danielle Pinnock (“Ghosts” ) , Emmy Award-winning producer and Golden Globe-nominated actress Kerry Washington (“Imperfect Women,” American Son), and two-time Tony Award® winner Kara Young (Purlie Victorious, Purpose), come together to bring Goldberg’s unforgettable characters back to the stage, in this new production.

Whoopi Goldberg is not scheduled to appear in this production.

The best thing about the original was that Whoopi Goldberg played all of the characters.

The Telecharge lottery for tomorrow's first preview is listed as $20.

Kerry is doing some matinees through August 22nd (including the August 8th matinee)

Her monologue will probably be covered by Kai Heath, Denis Manning or Pavar Snipe; but unsure. Regardless, black lady magic in the building.

It's not unprofessional if this all KW signed up to from day one.

Previous information did not address this. So if Kerry signed up for this from day one, then LCT is guilty of a bait and switch

Yeah, I’m confused by the uproar here. This was literally always the deal. This is not new information and it was always made very clear from the moment tickets went on sale. I’m not sure what the problem is…

I think the problem is that there was never an official announcement she would only be in the show until August 2. They have been heavily marketing it with her name since announcing last year, yet they never mentioned she's only doing half the run?

Sure, it was listed when purchasing tickets, but what if you went to first look at the dates before buying a ticket? The announcement is only visible once you click on a time. Plenty of people are going to look at the dates and times and think "August works best for me. Let me text my friend" and once they go to buy the ticket then it will say that Kerry is not appearing.

Not appearing a handful of performances is one thing, but half the run where someone else is going to have to be billed for the role? They should have made that more public than once you're going to buy tickets.

It's spreading misinformation about your production when you advertise heavily with your celebrity lead, but never officially mention that she won't be in the second half of the run until you go in to buy tickets. They could have included a line in the casting press release. They could have marketed it "Kerry Washington for so and so weeks or performances." Instead, they're being a little too sneaky about disclosing.

I bought LincTix as well and there absolutely was a casting notice for every performance that Washington was missing.

I, too, bought LincTix the day they went on sale and there was a huge “!” next to every single date Washington was missing, along with a pop-up and a message on the ticket-purchasing screen.

It was absolutely disclosed, more than once, from the beginning.
