I just received an email about my show in February. Yes, it seems it's done on January 16th. I'm very upset.

How unfortunate. This is a stunning play. Poor Greg Kinnear did what? 1 or 2 performances?

Well, we knew its future looked shaky after Daniels left, and that's a big house to fill. And if they were hoping this would be the rare group sales/tourist play, those sales are nonexistant at the moment. If you already saw Daniels and/or Ed Harris, Greg Kinnear isn't exactly a name that will make you run to buy tickets a second/third time.

It was a wonderful production and a solid adaptation of the novel.

Oh no!! This was my backup show for February in case LSOH for some reason cancels. This is so sad. Any closing is so sad To Kill A Mockingbird closing January 16th?

I believe the tour is coming to Philly so I'll try to catch it then.

I’m shocked. I saw this exactly a month ago and thought it was doing very well. I suppose the next few months looked really bleak, I’m just surprised this couldn’t have made it longer than the end of this week. I’m glad I got to see it one more time before it closed, and feel really bad for the new cast members who are playing such a brief run.

Sad for everyone involved… but at least it will close a hit. Waiting for a statement from Orin Wolf.

So now the Shubert - a prime musical theatre house - is available for a big show to potentially come in next season.

Surprised by this as well. It seemed to be a packed house when I saw it last month.

December is a lot different then Jan/Feb.

ALW's CINDERELLA is my guess. It was rumored for that house pre-Covid (and while Rudin was still involved with Cindy).

And Greg Kinnear isn't the type of name who would make New Yorkers want to see this a second or third time.

And as always, it's not about how many seats are sold, it's how much they cost.

Terribly upset for everybody involved. I adored Celia's incredibly thoughtful performance in 2019 and was rooting for her all Tony season that year, but I thought the play itself was a terrible adaptation of Lee's novel.

Hoping everyone on and off stage involved is able to find new employment quickly.

Someone mentioned on this reddit thread that Mockingbird might be moving to a smaller house, such as the Belasco Theatre.

It has to be pretty costly to run. Big ensemble cast.

I liked it, but didn't love it. Again, the design was weird. I don't like that set designer. And hate the whole "community" moving the scenery like in Bridges.

Agreed, RippedMan. Liked it, but did not love it. I agree that the design was misguided and weird. It looked like the whole show was set in an old warehouse.

TKAM has been threatening to move theaters since ~9 months into it's run. Andrew Lloyd Webber really wanted the Shubert Theater to premiere Cinderella, and the Shubert Org offered a few theaters for Rudin to transfer TKAM to, but he wouldn't budge (shocking). I wouldn't be surprised if they try and downscale the show and move later in the year.

While I never thought Greg Kinnear would be the right name to give this show any legs, I'm shocked that the rug was pulled so quickly. If any show could've gone for a Doubtfire-style pause and actually remount, it would've been this one. Sorry for all affected.

It is odd that there hasn't been an official announcement. Wondering if they intended to tell the cast between performances today and Telecharge goofed and jumped the gun.

If this were going to move or downscale, it would have made much more sense to do so during the pandemic after the Rudin debacle. With Barry Diller (a person with less passion for all this than Rudin) holding the purse strings now, I don't see them making the gamble to move and downsize in this climate. Quit while you're ahead. It can make money on tour and in London.

I recall on Jan 1st they cancelled Saturday matinee performance last minute. I never saw an official announcement online but the performance was canceled as confirmed by folks who had tickets to that performance. The TKAM PR is odd.

Any idea if Kinnear is playing any of the final performances?  I heard he was out with Covid.

I certainly hope the cast was informed before telecharge sent out that email. It suck to find out your show is closing through a Reddit post.
