Well I guess they really wanted to keep that role ethnic. Interesting casting though. Salonga's kind of miscast but so was Vega. At least she'll sing it well.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

"Now she wants to know WHY, if I'm so fabulous, I would WANT to take care of her child.....I answer with as much filigree and insouciance as I can muster, trying to slightly cock my head like Snow White listening to the animals. She, in turn, is aiming for more of a Diane-Sawyer-pose, looking for answers which will confirm that I am not there to steal her husband, jewelry, friends, or child. In that order." Voice-wise...Salonga can SING! Certainly, people won't be waiting for Fantine to die as quickly as possible anymore. This is very exciting news! No one will come out of the theater anymore asking themselves a question whether the actress playing Fantine was sick that evening.

And even better news is that Vega is NOT RETURNING! Yeah!!!

She's a logical choice for the role, and she will sing the hell out of it.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I don't know, CPD, could it be the universally negative word of mouth and reviews?

"Due to strong box-office and enthusiastic audiences, LES MISÉRABLES recently announced an extension through at least the summer of 2007, and Salonga will stay with the production through the entire period."

Although I actually enjoyed Daphne's performance, this is great news! This is quite funny for me actually. 3 nights ago, while watching the Les Mis dream cast concert, my father, who doesn't really have a passion for theater and who doesn't see the majority of shows with me, promised that when Lea Salonga returns to Broadway, in any show, He would take me to New York to see her (sadly, I don't live in nyc). Very funny that 3 days later, it would be announced that she would be back on Broadway, and in Les Mis nonetheless (although a different role).

Novel thought, bringing in a former Les Miserable lead/popular/talented performer. Smart move. Good for Lea!
