There's some video footage right after the segment on Chandra Wilson in Chicago, about 12 minutes in. https://www.broadwayworld.com/videoplay.cfm?colid=57079

Lovely watching it in the rain. Sat across from Cherry Jones and Sarah Paulson.

Rained out tonight, very sad. Won the Virtual Line today on the first try! They waited till about 8:40 before making the announcement.... RIGHT AS IT STOPPED RAINING. But by then it was too late to start.

Perhaps they should start all performances at 7pm for two reasons:
(1) It's a *very* lengthy show and theatergoers who have to be at work at 9am the next morning would be very thankful. It's rough getting home at 1:00 am.
(2) A 7pm start, with a rain delay of 45 minutes midway through the show, would still have enough "buffer time" to get everyone out of the park by the midnight deadline. Unfortunately, if they start so late at 8pm, a rain delay of 45 minutes means the show must be canceled.
All valid, but then you'd be starting the show in almost-daylight. I always assumed they started at 8 p.m. so it'd be at least somewhat dark.
I was so bummed! had excellent seats, second row, dead center..oh well..next time!

Didn't they start MACBETH a few years ago at 8:30 so it would be dark when the show began?
Yes, they began Macbeth at 8:30. It's one of Shakespeare's shortest plays--roughly 2:30, completely unabridged--so they could get away with doing that and still finish up way before midnight.

Aw, I love her. Great article, thanks for the link!
Is it wrong that I bought a copy of New York this evening just to have that picture of her in the red dress?
And it looks like I made a giant mistake assuming that Saturday's performance would get rained out and not bothering to go when I won the virtual lottery. Oops.

Third reason for an early start: So people who took NJTransit into the city don't have to scramble to catch the last bus or train back.
Not that I had to make the Port Authority Sprint last week or anything.
The same applies for LIRR people, if I were to go home directly after a performance I would not get back until 2 AM.
I'm sure it all has to do with lighting set-ups though so the 8 PM start time is completely understandable.

My friend and I are going this Sunday to stand in line to get tickets and I was wondering what's the latest we should get there? I know the weather is supposed to be nice so I was thinking between 6 and 7am, is that too late? Thanks for the help!!
What time do you think I should get to the cancelation line by at the latest to be able to get a ticket for tonight?
While I realize that Tuesday vs. Friday could be wildly different, when I walked by the theater at about 5:45 last Friday there had to have been nearly 100 people on line already. It's hard to say how many tickets they will have available on the stand by line because that number fluctuates daily. I would say the sooner the better.
I figure photos should be linked in this thread.

Ah, emcee - you chose my favorite as your avatar! Good taste, obviously.
No luck again with the virtual line. I may have to donate (or find someone who needs a date for opening night).

Hamish Linklater in that tree!
How hard do you think it will be to get tickets after it opens? I plan to go this Friday, since I was "lucky" enough to be at the first rained out performance...
I would assume it depends on the reviews.
Makes sense. I just realized that I should still be good on Fday since I ll be in line already by the time the reviews come out. :)
Oh my God, what time are you getting there??
