Thanks for posting these, Bobby. I can't wait for MARTIN SHORT. I had a lot of fun at that show. Am interested in hearing a lot of those songs again. Am also interested to hear the EVIL DEAD cast recording because I never got a chance to see it. Who is reissuing all of the Sondheim recordings?
Sony is doing the Sondheim reissues DRS. They've delayed these for about 2 years (word is that the performers involved were wanting royalties).
Thanks, Bobby. Ahh so many cast recordings to buy. Now all I need is money. May have to wait a while to buy some of these. Oh well.

And this is just a list of those with an announced date! There are so many others that have been announnced that we don't have a date for . . .
-High Fidelity
-A Little Princess
-Legally Blonde
-Grey Gardens OBC
-The Pirate Queen(?)
-LoveMusik(?)
-Curtains(?)
-The Apple Tree
-110 in the Shade
-The Little Mermaid
-Young Frankenstein
A little far into the future I know, but so many great CD's! With flops (HiFi), older shows (Happy End), limited engagements (Martin Short), and shows that closed too early (Evil Dead), all getting recordings, it seems like its been a really great time for cast recordings lately.
Where is the Lestat release date?

Gee, I don't see the LA cast recording of The Brain From Planet X on that list. There was a lovely blurb about it here on broadwayworld. None of the other albums listed have any songs that are sung by a Brain.
Didn't the article on the re-recording of Grey Gardens say the album would be out sometime in March?
Lestat-Never
Yes, they said it would be out in March but that seems mighty quick for a show just recorded. No release date yet.
Haha!! I can't wait for Bubbly Black Girl!

Great News!
From a Playbill Article
In his March newsletter Brown also reports that a cast recording has been made for 13, but there are no current plans to sell the disc. Writes Brown, "We did actually go into the studio this weekend and record the entire show with original cast and band . . . and we are going to mix that down and make an album. But we're not planning to sell it at the moment. There are numerous changes [book writer] Dan [Elish] and I want to make in the show, and we want the first commercially available recording to reflect all of those changes. So we're going to use the record we made just for promotions, for advertising, for raising money, all so we can bring the show to its next incarnation, wherever that may be." Brown said, however, that he will post some of the material from the recording sessions on his official website.

Not being released, but there are tracks, and they will be mixed. So this means if it goes nowhere (god forbid), there will be tracks for a possible cast recording.

How ridiculous, I hope they didn't get them, they don't deserve to get paid twice for the same work.

EMI is recording the Curtains cast album. Does anybody know which label will do Legally Blonde?
Where did the info about the Sondheim reissues FINALLY happening come from. I can't find it anywhere. I'm really hoping it's true!
I'm SO excited for the Sweeney reissue... cuz I definitely wasn't gonna pay $75 for an old one on amazon.com

i hope that these shows come out with a cd inner city, maggie flynn ,let it ride and ring of fire, and others.
^ They won't.
Looking forward to Simply Barbra & the Sondheim reissues.

they were charging $75 for an OBC Sweeney album?! i got mine used for like $7. wow... i guess that just goes to show you how things can go up & down in the prices. when i got The Music Man (Matthew Broderick/Kristin Version) used in a CD store they were charging something CRAZY like $40 for it used on Amazon. now it's back down to reality prices...
and to think, so many people don't even BUY albums anymore. i'll be the archaic one with a whole room full of dusty cast recordings hoping my fridge opens up and spits out a Broadway diva who sings to me...
Remember that Amazon Marketplace sellers can choose to offer their Cd's for sale at any price. Obviously, offering a currently avaiable CD at an inflated price will probbaly not garner much action, but once a title goes out-of-print collectors can and will pay top dolar out of fear they may never have another chance.
We are fortunate to live in an age when most of the OBC recordings made in the last 65 years have been re-issued on CD. Bryan's "wish list" names 4 of about 3 dozen OCR's (and SCR's) that have not as yet made it to CD.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

I just wrote to the Roundabout website and this is what they said about an Apple Tree Recording:
"Unfortunately, I have not heard anything at this point, so it looks doubtful. Certainly, there is a chance for a last moment reprieve, but I would be surprised.
Thank you for your message."
That's too bad. Kristin's performance needed to be captured. Perhaps she'll put her big solos on her next CD. At least we'll probably see her do "Gorgeous" on the Tony's since it's likely that Apple Tree will be up for Revival.
I'm sorry that Apple Tree won't make it to CD. We need a new recording of that score. They even recorded Tenderloin again.
Btw-was "I'm Lost" on the OBC? I thought I heard that on one of those Lost In Boston CD's, meaning it had been cut from the original version. Great Song!
Some of my wishes-
Doonesbury
Children of Eden - London Cast
Both are on vinyl/cassette but will probaly never make it to CD.
