Like kyle I joined this board just so I could post here. I just want to register my disgust at this kyle person posing as someone who is familiar with this musical when he didn't stay to see it all. It's fine to leave something you don't like, but probably one fourth of the posts on this topic have been from kyle- all of them trashing this production, and in only a few does he mention that he left in the middle of it. In one post he mentions that posting here is a "sport" for him- that's disgusting. Fine if you want to say why you left, but holding yourself out in most of these posts as someone who has really experienced this show is totally dishonest. People who might be interested in this show aren't going to wade through all these messages to figure out that the person trashing it over and over left in the middle. I'm sure the talented people who put a lot of work into this, some of whom you claim to admire, don't think what you're doing here is as cute as you apparently think it is. Obviously, if you'd stayed for the whole show your opinion would have changed, for better or worse, but people reading your posts are entitled to know that you didn't see the whole thing, so they can factor that in. It's one thing to be opinionated, and even to beat people over the head with your opinion, (how many posts!?) but to hold yourself out over and over as somebody who knows all about this show is totally dishonest. You should have been prefacing each comment with: "I didn't see it all, but.." People reading your manyyyyy comments are entitled to know that.
i LOVE that this argument still exists!!!! it is the CRAZIEST argument of ALL the arguments lobbed at me...
i DEFINITELY DID NOT SEE the end of the show... i left towards the end of "invisible"... i was sooooooooooooooo bored by the courtroom scene that led up to patii's number... that i started walking DURING her number... and i was OUT by the end... as i have said before (although clearly not prefaced enough by -- "I didn't see it all, but.." ---) i felt TERRIBLE for patti lupone... and i could not bear to see her straining to make the material work...
"I didn't see it all, but.."
i reviewed.. commented on... the amount of show i saw...
biggest irony here is....
EVEN the people that liked the show AGREE that the ending is boring and questionable!
"I didn't see it all, but.."
i DO come here fo sport!
"I didn't see it all, but.."
i enjoyed your post!! it is SOOOO specific!!!
"I didn't see it all, but.."
i enjoyed my papaya dog that day and my smart water! i actually had 2 papaya dogs... ketchuo only!
"I didn't see it all, but.."
i could go back and edit my posts and add -- "I didn't see it all, but.." -- let me know if it is important to you... i can'tt do it in one sitting, but i promise i could do a few a day!!! let me know, vanity fair person!!!!
ok guys.... i am back, i am glad to see you were interested...
well, i guess it was 1979, maybe 80... i am sure this can be researched...
but the MERV GRIFFIN show was going to be filming some episodes in new york... specifically at the vivian beaumont theater... it was my first time in the beaumont, so i was too young to know that is was an actual broadway house... i was just excited to have scored tickets to a TV show... i was over the moon... i had written in and they mailed me 6 tickets... i invited 5 friends and we took the express bus from the bronx to manhattan... we were too young and nervous to take the subway...
anyway, they wouldn't tell us who the guests were... but i remember sitting and waiting for the show to start and DARING to hope it may be patti lupone... because evita had started... and there was sooo much press about her...
well... they announced the guests and this gay boy almost died.... well, i wasn't out at the time... i was actually dating a girl from my grammar school, it was non sexual, but that stands to reason...
anyway... PATTI LUPONE was to appear.... oh my god... we were all thrilled... all of my lucky 5 friends who i gave the tickets to... of course, she sang ARGENTINA and it was amazing!!!! we were thrilled, enthralled and ready to MAUL...
pat carroll was the other guest and i distinctly remember her getting up and twirling her pearls in a hula hoop fashion around her body!!! i found it quite funny... my friend knew of her, i was unaware of pat carroll's fame...
who would have known, certainly not patti, that she would ultimately marry in that VERY theater!!!
there's your cute and sexy and promised patti-related story... i have one more (not as cool) and, like i said, a personal anecdote, then my final words, then my special announcement... then my retirement form BROADWAY WORLD!!!
ok, at 234,000 i will post my second patti-related story... it is not as good as the first... then i will tell my non-patti story... then my finale post!!! then i am OUT!!! see ya at 234,000...
a friend of mine was invited to see patti in connecticut at one of the casinos... she was doing her cabaret act... my friend was also invited to stay in a very large suite where patti was staying overnight... a group of people related to the show were staying...
anyway, the group of them (including patti) was hanging out at the end of the night, drinking, talking.... and then everyone adjourned to their own rooms... well, a few minutes later... a LOUD, HORRIFIC scream was heard... and it was clearly coming from patti's room...
the men shouted down... are you ok?!!!
and she yelled back... "oh yeah, don't worry, i just saw myself after i took my makeup off!!!!!
cute, huh?
ok... all that remains is my non-patti story, my finale post... and then my retirement!!!
i will decide when i will do the non-patti story tomorrow... if my plane has wifi, i will do it from there!!!
the non-patti story is warm and cute, but it involves a death of a major broadway legend!!!
Just saw WOTV for the second time, and I liked it even more now that I understand that the style and staging was deliberate. So glad that the cast is having such fun with it.
Was just at the stage door friday night. Everyone came out, with the exception of Sherie Rene Scott, who was out that night, and De'Adre Aziza, her understudy. Patti was pretty flighty, only signed some from what I saw, too cold for pictures. FInally got my LuPone autograph! Not crowed at all.
i have been traveling... i am aware that i owe you... one more story... that involves me and the death of a broadway legend... and then my final words... and then my exciting announcement... then my retirement!! i promise to get to all of this!!! promise!!!!!
ok, the story i promised... then final words... then exciting announcement... then retirement... and perfectly timed... patti and laura and company are SET FREE tomorrow!!!!
ok... the story...
i went to a performance of hair... i am pretty sure it was 1978, could have been 77... anyway, i was 12 or 13.... and my parent's got my family first row seats!!!
it was sooo exciting... anyway, at the end of act 1... the cast was naked... and the curtain went down... and the character of berger came out in a police uniform and a police motorbike... he rode to center stage and he pretended that he was "raiding" the theater... and that the audience was not supposed to be viewing nudity...
after a few laughs, he said he would take only ONE person into custody... a minor... he pulled me from my seat... and i was suddenly center stage... looking out at the audience... it was exciting and scary... then he dragged me backstage...
well, obviously, the idea was to send me back around to my parents and sister... BUT... a phone call came backstage and the stage manager was informed that zero mostel had died... there was sadness, a commotion and everyone forgot about me... people were crying and stuff... i got nervous and i found an exit door and made my way back to my parents...
i told my parents that zero mostel died... and they were confused about the correlation... then it was announced to the whole theater...
odd. sad. memorable.
ok... i'll be out of your way soon!!!
couldn't workout today because i hurt my shoulder... may have to rest it until the 5th...
^ ok how does that "mesmerizing" experience have jack **** to do with WOTV? And 2: will you stop posting on this board after tomorrow? Please do, you filthy troll.
