Random question, but I entered the Falsettos lottery for all shows 1/6-1/8 since those are the days I will be in NYC. Today, I just got a notification that I won for the 1/5 show, even though I'm 99.9% sure I didn't enter for that date. My friend visiting with me entered for 1/6-1/8 as well, and got an e-mail today that he didn't win for the 1/5 show. The odds of us both accidentally entering the lottery for a day neither one of us will be there is kind of a long shot, so it seems maybe there's a glitch? Anyone experience this with a digital lottery before? I e-mailed them back to let them know, but not sure anyone is actually checking replies.
I also got the same thing for the Falsettos lottery today, as I didn't enter for that date but did enter for 1/6 and 1/7 - was wondering what happened but it must be a glitch!
I (as well as many others ) still haven't won the Hamilton lottery....I've entered over 60 times and have yet to win. I've been entering since February 2016 for whatever dates I can go and still no luck. though, many are in the same boat as I. lol.
In person, I seemingly had very good luck with all lotteries (Except for Hamilton...which I only entered 3x).
I won the in person Book of Mormon lottery on my first try (it was in Chicago and only about 30 people were there, I think everyone got a ticket). I have entered Ham in Chicago everyday since opening and nothing
I've entered the Hamilton-Chicago lottery every single day since it started. I finally won last Thursday. I changed my strategy a bit. I don't know if it helped....but I like to think it did.
I saw on Karen Olivo's twitter that there were between 4,000 - 5,000 entries per day and tried to figure a way to increase my odds. As I have the most non-existent luck in the world, I knew that I'd never win against 5,000 people. I figured that most people entering the lottery went for the 2 tickets. It occurred to me that I could rely on someone else's luck by hoping that someone would just enter for one ticket. Once that person got the one ticket, there would be comparatively small amount of other people looking for a single. I figured that by looking for a single ticket, that wiped out a huge percent of people.
I won about a month after trying that. Again, I don't know if it helped....but it makes me happy to think it did.
pc, I used to do that! After entering for 2 in the first couple months, I thought the same thing as you! So I entered for one, but I kept losing anyway, so I stopped and I enter for two now, so I can take someone. Maybe I'll switch back.
Add me to the list of people who are 0-for-lifetime on Hamilton (among several others), but I just won the On Your Feet lottery for tonight's show! My first win of any kind. I entered for OYF 3 times over the summer with no luck and ended up going to TKTS instead because I wanted to see it with Josh Segarra before he left. I'd guess the number of entries per day is pretty low for this, but I'm still excited to finally win one!
I have entered the NYC Hamilton lottery for myself and my husband daily since Day 1 and have not won. I have, however, won many other lotteries including BOM, Something Rotten, On Your Feet, Falsettos and Jersey Boys. I always go when I win. :) Love the fun of the digital lotteries.
Kinky Boy said: "has anyone won the jersey boys a lottery recently? or the mormon lottery?
"
Been trying Jersey Boys consistently since November and no luck... Did the in person for Book of Mormon in the middle of December and both my friend and I won. I'm not a fan of the online Book of Mormon because it's more expensive and the seats aren't aa good as the in person.
So this summer I tried 14 days in a row for Hamilton-no go. Didn't try for anything else since I was not in NYC consecutively and Hamilton is the only show i would have shlepped into the city to see if I got in through the lottery.
This holiday season I was in NYC from the 25-2nd. I entered Hamilton, Aladdin, The Humans, and Jersey Boys consistently. I got into The Humans. With The Humans I only requested one ticket. I was pretty excited-it had been a show I was going back and forth on whether I wanted to actually buy tickets for-so was happy when I won the lottery! Ticket was 40 dollars and they offered me best available which was center mezzanine.
I've won some sort of Broadway lottery 22 times since June 2015. I tend to enter on a daily or weekly basis. I've probably entered several hundred (online/mobile) lotteries. So technically my luck is pretty bad but the effort is so minuscule that I can't complain, since I've managed to see some great shows on the cheap.
My only strategy is to pretty much enter everything! I almost always enter for one ticket.
Some win/loss anecdotes:
4 wins went unclaimed (Something Rotten, American Psycho, On Your Feet, Matilda).
I managed to win a second time so I could finally see these 4 shows. Matilda was most notable where I won within 3 tries, yet took me more than a year later to win a second time. <-- I guess this is my answer to the thread title
(Of course!) Hamilton I've never won, entering daily since digital lotto launch, plus some in-person. Stopped entering when I finally saw it in Oct with a face value ticket (and stone me, but now I'm so lukewarm towards it after seeing it)
Jujamcyn lotteries have been the kindest to me. To my shock, I even won BoM in person after only 2 tries. The only exception was The Crucible, which I NEVER won despite entering every day.
Wow, I've entered Ham NYC lottery so many times, I've even created a special folder to save all my "Unfortunately..." loser mails. I thought one day it would be funny to count, but can't bring myself to.
Suffice it to say that I've entered every day of the digital lottery since Jan/Feb beginning last year, except for a handful of nights when I either had (1) unbreakable plans such as tickets to another terrific live event or (2) was out of town on vacation.
I've also gone down to the theater numerous times in person back in the days of its opening in August through winter when the lottery was live, and then a handful of "live" times on Wed matinees through last July's final week of original cast....
Nada.
On the other hand, I've been lucky with Fun Home, Jersey Boys, Wicked. Something else I can' t remember.
