Cuomo is leaving countless New Yorkers in the dark about their rents, so his caring about people with broadway tickets is (I'm just guessing) pretty low on his list of cares in the world right now.

Ticketmaster- NOT Cuomo- does tickets- of course rents and food are the priorities- but since this is a BWAY board- ticket refunds and issues related to that can be shared and discussed. I feel terrible for anyone whose job is lost and cannot pay rent or food bills- that is a truly difficult situation- and all other issues pale in comparison- total agreeement there.

True and unemployment benefits will reach 10 million by tomorrow -The Federal Reserve Bank predicts as many as 47 million layoffs and a mind-boggling 32% jobless rate, higher than the 25% rate during the Great Depression. Not only are we experiencing a health crisis but a financial one as well. Hang in there everyone...glad we have our health and jobs being ablea to pay our maintenance, mortgage and bills! Health before Wealth!!! BWAY willl be back with a lot less shows but we will have to just wait for many months!

I am grateful for my health and looking forward to Broadway coming back, but how can Ticketmaster/Nederland avoid refunds for April shows when there is NO chance they will go on?

Once the performance is officially cancelled- a refund will automatically be generated- at least that is what Ticketmaster told me. I had tickets for Madonna in Chicago- which was postponed - and the refund came one day later.

In fairness, its not Tickitmaster/Tele-charge who makes the decision, but the individual shows. And the shows have to be careful about voluntarily cancelling, as it may have insurance implications- so the city/state have to chime in. That doesn't mean the announcement should be made ASAP, just noting where the decision has to come from. I've been under the assumption that discussions are going on and everyone is trying to come to an agreement- but its getting to be that time where a decision needs to be made. Certainly, it makes little sense to just keep extending the shutdown day by day when we get to the 15th. As I've said before, for those of us not in NYC there are also travel/hotel reservations to cancel- and if only credit for the travel/hotel is available, it would be helpful to know when to reschedule.

Even assuming the show was prepared to proceed, it isn't clear to me that they could proceed during a state wide shut down of non-essential activities. The "official" cancellation is an excuse to delay payment.

They should just announce it's closed indefinitely and tell people a date later. They do not know when this will peak exactly, or when actors/crew actually feel comfortable being a room with 1000+ people nightly.

The league is going to announce soon that it is closed until further notice. It will possibly reopen in July.

They will announce they are hoping for a July re-opening. Behind closed doors they are expecting it to be more like a September re-opening.

On September 19th I purchased tickets to the see The Music Man on September 11th so I really really really hope the Theater District opens by then. However, I have to be honest and am not sure I will wait by the stage door packed like a sardine for an autograph.

Cuomo shut down Broadway until April 12. Unless he extends it, the shutdown is over then. Does anyone have any idea what is happening with any degree of certainty? I have Lehman Trilogy tkts on April 15. I was refused a refund b/c the "theater hasn't authorized it."
Wouldn't actors have to rehearse after all this time & what about theater workers, e.g., stage, usher, box office?

New York's stay at home order is at least until April 30th. Broadway won't be back until late Summer or Fall.

I highly doubt New York theatre- or live theatre in general- will return ever again. I believe all theaters around the world will be demolished in no time. Theatre is a dying art form anyway, and it had lost much of its appeal before this crisis. I may sound like an extreme pessimist, but this is unfortunately true.
If the world were to return to some sort of "normalcy" in the future, it would have no face-to-face interaction, meaning no funerals, weddings, family reunions, hugs/kisses/high fives, conventions/assemblies, sports, live television, religious gatherings, and theatre, as well as many other forms of leisure which were prominent not so long ago. Schools and businesses will all be online. I am an introvert at heart, so I hope the world comes down to this.
Good riddance to live theatre until the end of time. You've been an uninspiring, money-grabbing distraction for years on end, and you probably won't be missed by many.
