and turned into something for Broadway or Off-Broadway? I know they've done this for Billy Joel and I believe Elton John. But who else would you guys like to see have their music catalog adapted for the stage?
I would LOVE to see someone do this for Ronan Tynan. He was the gentleman who sang God Bless America at yankee stadium right after 9/11 happened and he also sang at the reagan funeral. He has such an amazing voice, and an unbelieveable story through his songs, i know they could come alive on stage. There is a short 5 minute clip on his website with some info about his life, you guys should check that out and let me know what you think, www.ronantynan.net

NO ONE! I HATE jukebox musicals. HATE MAMMA MIA! HATE MOVIN' OUT!
I agree with canp. I am so sick with these jukebox musicals.
I hate em too. but that still doesn't mean I'm not fascinated by the prospects of my own jukebox musical idea: SATURDAY NIGHT DIVAS with songs from the spice girls.

Jukebox musicals are the root of all evil.

Julie Brown's music would be good, but let's think of musician's music we wouldn't like being made into a musical. My #1 is Avril Lavigne Updated On: 2/16/05 at 08:17 PM

wow....i kind of think that the jukebox musicals can be fun sometimes. Why is it that they are so evil?? And of course, how could I ever forget about Frankie Valli and all those other greats??? Did you guys at least enjoy Ronan's music?
there are many amazing artists, but it doesn't mean there songs should be turned into a musical. liking someone and thinking there should be a musical with their music are two very different things. i don't think another jukebox musical is what broadway needs right now at all. it takes room away from new composers who need to be encouraged. they can tell their stories at their concerts. broadway isn't the place.

im just wondering...would a show like never gonna dance, or a show with say old standard music, like judy garland or frank sinatra be concidered a jukebox musical?>
I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE BEN FOLDS!!!
For the record, it's "whose", not "who's".
I like the jukebox musicals. There is nothing evil about them whatsoever. They are designed to entertain, and if they do so, then I see nothing wrong with it. Why was all this ranting absent when musical reviews are produced or previous jukebox shows like Buddy or Play On? For now, it is a trend that may or may not last. It is not a big deal. So far, only two have been successful on Broadway.
I would love to hear a musical featuring the songs of John Denver or Dolly Parton. And though everyone would probably hate me, I would personally like a musical of Steps, but I know I'm in a teeny tiny minority there.
LOL Mister Matt, thank you for being Grammar Police. I can't bear it when people misspell common things- "your" vs. "you're" is a big pet peeve.
I don't care for jukebox musicals either, but I'd LOVE to see one with Madonna's music. One could easily weave her songs into a narrative.
Aerosmith.
Long shot,I know, but...I just love their music and wanna choreograph it, lol.
Also the Beatles, but...that's soooort of happening with Lennon.
How 'bout Elvis Costello? That might be cool.
Did anyone see 'Not Another Teen Movie'? Ben compsosed a little musical montage. Brilliantly funny!
The man is a genius.
New album in April!! Weeee!!

I'd like to see Bruce Springsteen's music adapted for stage...only if it was done well enough. :-/ I think "Jungleland" would make an AWESOME climatic Act One finale.
The Pittsburgh Ballet Theater actually performed a show called "Springsteen and Seger"- three ballets, two of Springsteen and one of Pete Seeger. The first Springsteen act was amazing- extremely dark and mysterious, focusing mainly on his lesser known work. The bookending act wasn't as good, tho, as it seemed to cater to more of his pop hits.
DIANNE WARREN! She writes the most incredible pieces of song. In fact, she should be approached to write a show with all new music.
She wrote: Unbreak my heart...I don't want to miss a thing ...Because you love me...How do I live with out you....
Her music has been record by so many artist like cher, celin dion, toni braxton , elton john , barbara streisand, christina aguilera, whitney houston, aerosmith ..to name a few.
