Today for Mother's Day, livejournal's daily question was:
Who is your favorite mother (the character, not the actress) from television or the movies?
So that made me think of some of the great characters that are mothers from Broadway plays and musicals.
My favorites that I can think of right now:
1. Rose Hovick from Gypsy.
2. Violet Weston from August: Osage County.
3. Diana Goodman from Next to Normal.
4. The Witch from Into the Woods.
5. Kate Keller from All My Sons.
And I know there are a ton more. So who are some of your favorites?

In terms of parenting skills or just favorite character?
For the former I'd have to go with Fantine, but for the latter it's gotta be Madame Rose.

These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I based my choices on the character, not on their parenting skills, haha! I kind of should've mentioned that in my original post.
Ah, I forgot Barbara from August:OC! (Thanks for the reminder, Glindathegood22). Barb and Vy are by far my favorite characters from that show.
