Carolee and Donna would be fabulous. Betty Buckley could be interesting too, I'm sure she'd sound fabulous. Faith Prince and Nancy Opel, too. I'd live for Patti singing this score full-belt, no matter how wrong it would be! I don't think she's been on stage recently, but this would be a great return for Joanna Gleason.
I also can't wait for Carmen Cusack, Ruthie Ann Miles, Kelli, LaChanze, and Audra to play this one day.

She was on when I saw It the other night. She was fantastic! Going to return to see Victoria, but if you see the show with Colleen it is in excellent hands.
I know I’m in a (significant) minority, but my only issue with this show was, in fact, Clark. So I’d love to see someone else. My pick would be Julia Murney. Alternatively, Beth Malone
I think Ebersole is inspired. She can nail the comedy and the pathos. She can also sing the score as written.
Also I feel you need a diminutive woman who communicates both the frail elderly woman and the child. It’s not an easy feat. Clark does it so beautifully.
I don’t think you can have some long breasted, big ass old lady up there and have the character work.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal
"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello
Julia Murney and Beth Malone are too young for this role (technically so is Victoria). Christine is a good suggestion and so is Joanna Gleason but they both read younger than their actual ages.
