So if Mame goes to Broadway, what else is being revived? We'll have this, Les Miz, and A Chorus Line all vying for a Tony next year, then? Wow. Heavy competition already!
Since my friend in the show hasn't heard anything I presume the info about them passing is true. Sad really. There is so much talent in that show and behind the show as well. However, the cost is a major factor. If they could do away with the staircase I think they could have saved a lot of money, but the design is such that it is an integral part of the production. I'm glad I was able to see the show in DC. If you haven't seen it yet, do so. It's worth the trip down south.
Not that it really has anything to do with MAME, but I'd much prefer the Weisslers and Nederlanders focusing their money and time on new musicals like SPRING AWAKENING than revivals.
...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...
That's too bad. I'd rather have "Mame" any day than a "new" show like "Good Vibrations", "Ring of Fire", "Lestat", "All Shook Up", etc, etc, etc.

But would you rather have MAME than DROWSY CHAPERONE, LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA, or AVENUE Q? If it's a choice between say SPRING AWAKENINGS and MAME, and I don't know that it is, SPRING is an original musical with a new score, so the analogy to most of the shows you mention isn't really relavent...
I don't know that SPRING AWAKENING would fare well on Broadway, even if it did end up at the Helen Hayes or something.
I would prefer a new musical to MAME - especially a mediocre revival of MAME.
Let's wait a few more years until a really strong production comes around. If this revival were really that amazing, it would open in New York without question.

When it's announced, it will be posted here shortly after. Don't worry. The news isn't hidden away somewhere on some random news site. Nothing has been said about it yet.

The "Lestat" CD has the same issue.
