I hope we do get the announcment this week. This show is fantastic. I saw it for the second time last night, and it got even better from early June. Christine has really stepped it up, and the rest of the cast has followed suit.In my opinion, she has risen above the negative reviews of her being "Miscast" to shine. This is the best production I have ever seen, period. I am hoping I will get to see it a third time (Wtih the current cast intact), at the Palace in September.

The decision is to be made today, 6/19. HOPE I agree...just saw it Saturday night and it was FANTASTIC! Just as "Pajama Game" and "Sweeney Todd" have been reinterpreted and energized, so has this production been sparkled and refilled with jazz pizzaz. HOPE HOPE HOPE
I am going to be in the area June 29-July 1st and was wondering how possible it would be to walk up to the box office the night of and get a single seat?....anyone?
It's almost as suspensful as when will they make the "Lestat" CD available for pre-order. :)
I hope "Mame" comes to Broadway, or at least tours.

If you haven't had a chance to read Playbill.com's interview with Christine B., you can find it here. It's terrific. Just hearing what she has to say about the audience's reaction tells you that this show MUST go on! http://www.playbill.com/celebritybuzz/article/100344.html
Me too, Munk. Honestly, I liked the show, but did not LOVE it. After hearing all the hype about how AMAZING it was, I was kind of disappointed. Christine and the rest of the cast were very good, but nothing wowed me. The sets, costumes and choreography were excellent, but I still left the show wanting more.
It'll be sad if it doesn't transfer though...I would have liked to give the show a second chance.
So annoying...I really really wanted to LOVE it.
Caroline, or Change was the theatrical highlight of my weekend in DC. Definitely one of my favorite musicals.
I'm thinking we would have already heard something by now if it was going to transfer. I concur with WAT, the production was entertaining, but to me, not worthy of a transfer.

Having seen the level of crap that's been presented on Broadway lately, I really don't know how you can say this. Even if you didn't like it. The quality is world's away from some of that drek. B'way would be lucky to get something this good. Updated On: 6/21/06 at 03:49 PM

I'm all for a transfer, but if just doesn't seem likely.
If the problem is the money - which it is - because it is a very expensive show to mount, and it is almost guaranteed that it will not make it's money back - the Weisslers are the absolute last producers that should want to be involved with something that has this much of a financial risk.
They are the cheapest producers around - and seeing how they just lost millions on WONDERFUL TOWN and SWEET CHARITY, I can't imagine that they would be willing to fork over MORE millions to put on a show that they know won't make their money back.

The Weisslers may have flopped with WT and Charity. But stop making it sound like their in such a financial crisis.
They made millions, and millions, and millions with Chicago. They money is still raking in. Even if they have a couple of flops. It does not really matter, because they keep raking in the money from Chicago. Not to mention they've had some big hits in the past. As someone has said before, they started their career on producing smash revivals.
I never once made it sound like they were in a financial crisis...it's obvious that they have millions of dollars to burn...all I said was that I'm not sure how willing they would be when push comes to shove to throw out millions MORE as they have just come off two enormous flops.
If they decided that they want to take the risk - then trust me - I'm all for it.

Word elsewhere on the web is that the Nederlander Organization has passed on a Mame transfer, and the Weisslers are concentrating their efforts on Spring Awakening instead, with the hopes of moving it to a small-ish Broadway house.
