Stokes said after the matinee today that there's a 90% chance that it's happening. It's being negotiated. I assume and hope that we will get an announcement this week! Updated On: 1/2/11 at 11:52 PM
If it *does* happen, will it be like all good news, and come in three's? I remember the good news this summer...(cast recordings of Promises Promises OLC, La Cage Revival, and Sound Of Music with Petula Clark)
"Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok. Have you guys heard about fidget spinners!?" ~Patti LuPone
I highly doubt this. There is little to no interest in this show. It would be produced at a total loss. The score is horrendous.

There's nothing to negotiate. It's either with PS Classics or Ghostlight - and either the producers of the show are paying for it in total and just handing it to one of those labels or it isn't happening. It's that simple. Neither label will be putting up one red or any other color cent.
If they want the show to have a life in regional theatre a cast recording with big names might not be the worst idea ever. There have been a few cast recordings in recent history that were released after the show closed on Broadway, probably for that very reason.
I attended the last performance of WOTV (Sunday - 7pm) and I spoke to both Laura Benanti and Brian Stokes Mitchell who both confirmed that a cast recording was going to be made "for sure." When I asked Benanti if the rumors were true (about the CD) she responded with great grace and humour: "For Christmas we got the great news that the show was closing early. But for New Years they tried to make it up to us - they told us we'll be in the studio soon, making a cast recording for sure!" I'll be looking forward to it!
I knew it would get a recording with the starry cast. I'm actually looking forward to this.

^ Me too. The only music I have is some audio stuff from YouTube that I luckily put on my iPod before they were deleted. From the songs I've heard, the show was great music. This is some of Yazbek's best in my opinion.

Well, gosh, BettyBoy, it appears everyone here is proving you wrong... guess there are people who deemed the score not so "horrendous" after all...I'm so sorry, darlin'.
GREAT NEWS! I am so excited. My partner and I loved the show. We were humming On the Verge for days. Had our visit not been so brief, I would have gone back to see it again.

I would think that with Sherie Rene Scott being in the cast that chances are THAT much higher with her husband's, Kurt Deutsch, owning Ghostlight records.
I find it funny that one person talks to Brian and its 90% sure and another talks to Brian and its 100%. I'm just sayin...
I'm thrilled for the aggressive and vocal 10 of you that loved the show and will pre-order the CD. I'm truly happy for you.

Betty, I don't understand people like you, who want to spit on peoples' happiness, just cause their tastes don't line up with your's. You should be ashamed of yourself.
Holbee, actually it is the other way around. There is a vocal minority on this board, I often refer to as "The Patti Police". They tend to push really hard if they like something, and abuse and denigrate those who "don't get it." I have gotten the nasty PMs and attacks for a dissenting "majority" opinion.
I'm sorry for saying I think the show and score is horrendous, but I'm entitled to it and I can say it anywhere I like. That doesn't mean I'm an "ass" as you called me in another thread.

The ass comment is from other negative comments Betty has made on a similar board. But I will explain it here, Betty. You are not an ass for disliking Women, you're an ass for claiming that the cast is embarrassed by the supposed public debacle of a show they're in, which you inferred was the entire cast. Now, I know some of the cat members, its a very happy cast 99%. There is one lead cast member who is not especially happy. I don't know if you know that or you just wanted to degrade the show further for some negative reason. But "the cast" means everyone, and most love the show and is not ashamed in the slightest. You joined today to tell us about how you stalked her through a window and then complain that Sherie would not LEAVE the cast party to go out into the cold and sign for you?
Really?
Talk about a sense of entitlement. Updated On: 1/3/11 at 09:28 PM
Actors are not required to be at the stage door. I don't think it is fair to judge actors and call them rude and entitled just because they don't go to the stage door. If they want to do it and enjoy signing and interacting, that's fine. If they don't, that's perfectly fine too.
