i was too lazy to read all the posts, but this cast is whack, why in the world would she play alice? i have never even heard of her before, i think they should change her now before the show goes straight down the drain.
"We would stop giving him a hard time if those clips didn't sound like background music to a Nintendo game!"
Haha Fair enough. The quality of the clips is HORRIBLE. I happen to think the material is fine though. Well, 3 of 4 ain't so bad.

I still CANNOT believe Wildhorn is giving a leading role to a complete unknown. He must really have confidence in her.
All his leading ladies in big musicals "originating a role" (take the Pimpernel ones with a grain of salt) have HUGE resumes: -Linda Eder - J&H, enough said (vocally anyway!) -Christine Andreas - SP 1.0 (2-Time Tony Nominee!) -Rachel York SP - 2.0 (Drama Desk Nominee) -Carolee Carmello - SP 3.0(2-Time Tony Nominee!) -Melissa Errico - DRACULA (3-Time Drama Desk / Tony-Nominee!)
Here's to hoping the show is still ... ummm decent.
Lol MAYBE Blaxx .. Frank is clearly into younger women ?
Linda Eder already had 4 SOLO albums out before J&H hit Broadway, as well as being on the jumbo TV show "Star Search" and winning/holding the record for 12 weeks or whatever. While she was still more unknown than most Bway stars during that time, she had been working on the show for 10 years / unlike Brightman who was just sort of, "Oh, she will be in Phantom..."
"None of the leads in The Civil War were "names.""
...How long did that one last?
I'm just saying that atleast when the material was bad, we had some great actors (All Marguerites!), singers (Linda Eder) and clowns (David Hasselhoff) up on the stage to make it better
You got a secret love for Wildhorn, don't you adamgreer?

As odd as this whole idea seems, I think she'll do really well (although unfortunate that she landed in something that seems bound for failure). Janet is my favorite Vanessa in In the Heights, hands down. She's a fantastic actress and has (even though Carla doesn't allow her to show it off much) an excellent voice.
A side note, when I first saw that she would be playing Alice, I assumed it was the original character and got really excited.

I chose, and my world was shaken- So what? The choice may have been mistaken,
The choosing was not...

Uhh BobbyBubby...I would hardly call Wildhorn writing shows for women?? Get your mind out of the gutter this isn't DRACULA, the musical (Oh so dirty and so much NECESSARY nudity!)!
"Don't feel too badly for Lauren. I have on good account that none of the actor's from the Spring's workshop are doing the show by their own choice."
...I suppose I could take your word for it; but NIKKI SNELSON did the workshop??
Not to mention they basically re-wrote Kennedy's part to Latino sounds like...
I still think THEY told Kennedy she's not doing it - she's worked with Frank Wildhorn on several pieces (Waiting for the Moon / Zelda, DRACULA, the musical, Wonderland, etc.); if they had casted someone else who would still be an "expatriot British children's book author," I'd see that -- but the fact they are making notices that Dacal is Latina, and that the original Book Writer is NO LONGER with the production (Phoebe Hwang), seems like they wanted to try something else.
Hmm, I didn't even realize that someone other than Jack Murphy was writing the book.
Although the fact that this new actress apparently reads so young would infer that they need to majorly rework the entire plot, not just tweak things to make Alice a Latina woman.
Pheobe Hwang who helped Jack Murphy with the English version of 'RUDOLF - THE LAST KISS' even had her own video on the website! Which is why it looks like something's missing on the Media page.
The original plot was (**SPOILER/ NOT REALLY? Just in case anyone's NEVER heard anything about it?**): The little girl-Alice-from-the-book's long-lost descendent living in Modern-day Manhattan is a single mother of one daughter named Chloe. She is just like her great grandfather - who wrote the Alice in Wonderland books, in that she writes children's books, and is British (but now living in New York). As Wonderland comes awreck, the white rabbit returns to New York to find Alice to bring Wonderland back to what it was before and put everything back in it's place. However, the rabbit kidnaps CHLOE by chance and takes her to Wonderland - but she is quickly captured by the Queen of Hearts. The white knight returns to find the real Alice to help her find her daughter. Along the way they find the Cheshire Cat, the ever knowing Caterpillar and of course the Mad Hatter, along with the Queen of Hearts. Can Alice save Chloe? Will she find love with the White Knight? Can she restore Wonderland? Can she even...save herself?
Now Alice can't be a descendent of the original author - or I guess they could just brush by it. Not that it's necessarily important, it just makes a whole lot more sense to the OVERALL plot/meaning to the piece of the whole "following your heart" career-deal...
Pheobe Hwang's name has been erased from the website since about the time of auditions. I don't know if she quit, got fired, resigned, didn't want to change anything / etc., just that she is NOT with the production as of this point.
i didn't read through all the posts so i don't know if it was mentioned, but Tad Wilson is leaving RoA to be a part of this show.

It was NOT mentioned! Thanks lstbutifulgrl2 .. do you know if he's just in the ensemble or is he the Cheshire Cat? Maybe understudy to the Caterpillar? Does the King of Hearts even exist? Or maybe just ensemble. Doesn't seem like he'd fit in as the White Knight. Thanks for posting!
