But what if a musical was made of the actual story of The Beach Boys. From their come up with Surfin, to their new material with Don’t Worry Baby, to the best album every made Pet Sounds, to Brian Wilson’s unfortunate deterioration.
There are some very meaty roles in this. Even in supporting roles, the characters would be quite good. Especially, Brian, Mike, the Father, and Dennis and Dr. Landy and the supporting women roles. Imagine seeing the wrecking crew recreate the Pet Sounds album on stage as the actor of Brian directs them. Dr. Landry’s abuse of Brian. All of the drugs and psychosis that went on would be deep to explore.
I think it would be too long to get the whole story in one day, so maybe a 2 day musical, like Harry Potter or Angels in America!
So 4-5 hours of the entire beach boys story from their rise to fall to resurgence!
Sounds interesting enough for me to buy a ticket. What do you guys think?"
Good Vibrations was not only a flop. It was the worst thing Broadway has ever seen.
