What performance are you judging her voice off of, somethingwicked?
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
She sang in her movie "Little Black Book" and also had a single out awhile ago...
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
"I'm tellin' you, the only times I really feel the presence of God are when I'm having sex and during a great Broadway musical." - Nathan Lane - Jeffrey
I think her voice is pretty powerful, somethingwicked. The single doesn't exactly give her the best chance to showcase what she can do and she said she was singing in character in Little Black Book (although I thought she still sounded pretty good there). She sang pretty strongly in Riding in Cars with Boys and in the opening of the MTV Awards a few years ago.

True, Bebe already DID understudy Cassie whan she played Shiela I had almost let that slip my mind Thank you for reminding me.
Patrick Wilson would be a GREAT Enjolras... He could probably pull Marius off pretty well, too. But I think he'd be a better Enjolras.
I thought of more
Adam Pascal as Fiyero Johnathan Pryce as Captain Hook in PETER PAN
"TO LOVE ANOTHER PERSON IS TO SEE THE FACE OF GOD"- LES MISERABLES---
"THERE'S A SPECIAL KIND OF PEOPLE KNOWN AS SHOW PEOPLE... WE'RE BORN EVERY NIGHT AT HALF HOUR CALL!"--- CURTAINS
for years i thought JULIE ANDREWS would be a perfect ANNA in THE KING AND I. then she got too old for it. thank goodness she eventually did that studio recording with BEN KINGSLEY!
Here here! somethingwicked! i have ALWAYS thought Julia Murney would be an amazing Daisy in SS. But, she would be amazing in just about anything. I would love to see her do the LaChiusa Wild Party and Toni Collette do the Lippa. Just for fun! They are both extraordinary.
Disclaimer: I've only seen A Little Night Music in a community theatre but weeks seeing Christine Baranski in Mame a few weeks ago, I thought she would make a good Desiree. I really don’t see Bernadette as Mrs. Lovett but think she would make a great Dolly though!
I agree that Marin would be great in PIAZZA in a few years when she's old enough (Margaret's supposed to be in her early fifties, I'd say). Updated On: 7/10/06 at 11:37 PM
Hope these aren't repeats.......apologies in advance if they are:
Debbie Shapiro Gravitte as The Lady of the Lake. Sara Gettelfinger as Ulla in The Producers Kristin Chenoweth as Johanna in Sweeney Kristin Chenoweth as Anne in A Little Night Music Kathleen Turner as Margo Channing in Applause Brian Stokes Mitchell as Oscar Jaffe in On the Twentieth Century Toni Collette as Sally Bowles in Cabaret
Toni Collette as Mrs. Lovette or Mamma Rose. Marin Mazzie would be INCREDIBLE as Margaret. I wish I could hear her sing that score right now. I never realized it, but Sutton Foster would be absolutely perfect for Louise/Gypsy. She might be a little old now, but I dont care. She could easily play the awkward tomboyish side of her in the beginning and make a beautiful transition into the confident womanly stripper at the end
Jim Stanek as Freddy (DRS) I would KILL to see that.
Jake Gyllenhaal as Henrick (A Little Night Music) Kelli O'Hara as Fantine (Les Mis) Drew Sarich as the Phantom (POTO) Drew Sarich as Billy Bigalow (Carousel) Allison Fischer as Eponine (Les Mis)
or really, Drew Sarich in anything and everything.
