i was wondering of the following casts, which are really good with signing autographs and taking pictures after or before their performances? avenue q, a raisin in the sun (specifically phylicia and audra), aida (adam), i love you, you're perfect now change, boy from oz (hugh), and assassins.
also, i'm going to ny on july 7th, and i have tix for shows from the 7th to the 11th, and this whole strike thing scares me. is it something i should be worried about? or do you think itll all blow over.
and if anyone wants to tell me about broaday barks, that would be awesome. i'm going for the first time this year and cant' wait to see what it's like. what time do you think i should get there to get a good standing spot?
last question: what time should i get to the theaters to wait in line for standing room tickets for a raisin in the sun, and rush tickets for aida? i wanna be super safe and get there super early. anyone done it before? thanks

Avenue Q and Assassins are excellent about autographs/pictures. Boy From Oz is a little crazy b/c of everybody clamoring for Jackman.
They will usually tell you can take pictures of Hugh but not with him. But than again, sometimes he does.
The Avenue Q cast is probably the niciest cast I have ever waited for
Have fun on your trip!
If I hang around the Wicked stage door about an hour before the afternoon performance what are the chances of some of the cast members stopping to sign autographs?
Hint: You gotta move fast at the WICKED stage door. Idina has been known to bolt.

That wasn't so for me. When I went to see Wicked the only person who did come out was Idina, after waiting for 45 minutes in the cold, then she rushed down the line, holding a marker like she only had 3 fingers and not even looking at the playbills because she had plans. Or at least that's what the lady who was with her said, but it's odd that she stayed in for like an hour after the show when she had plans, it can't take that long to get the green off... It left me feeling rather annoyed.
I always thought Idina was the slowest to come out of the stage door. She was the last person out when i went. You really cant take pictures with idina....or thats what happened when i went. The BFO stage door is crazy!!! make sure you are one of the first person at the barricade. If you face the stage go to the side left exit. That way you'll be right at the stage door and you wont have to walk all the way around. If you want to get other people's autographs/pictures (ie. beth fowler, stephanie j. block, and others) wait to the side of the barricade. (theres a little gap between the back of the black suv and the barracade. Stand there because that's where the rest of the cast has to exit. the only problem is you probably wont get hugh's autograph. If you are in the mob of people try to reach over to give ur playbill/program or whatever to hugh or anyone else.
At avenue Q, everyone is soooo nice. They'll willingly sign anything and take pictures. Make sure you go inside those BIG metal doors....soo you can have a more intimate experience without soo many people. (most of the people wait outside the metal doors) have fun!
Hmmm yes, I've heard she's in a rush sometimes, and doesn't come out after matinees. (Guess I can't blame her, heck of an exhausting show) Hence the reason I was hoping to catch her before hand.
chinkie azn jai- Love the picture of you (I'm assuming thats you?) and John. I'm jealous! :) Avenue Q is next on the list of shows to see, maybe in a couple months...
haha yea thats me and john tartaglia.... i love that picture!!!

The cast of Avenue Q is especially wonderful. When I saw the show, they all came out together, and you just get caught up right in the middle of the great group dynamic they have. They're all extremely approachable, friendly and very sweet. They all have great personalities and are a lot of fun to be around.
Adam is also absolutley wonderful. There are always rumors that he's a diva and snubs his fans, but I just met him yesterday and he was, as always, an absolute doll. He looks wonderful and seems genuinely happy to be back. There was a pretty sizable crowd, but I was very impressed with how well he handled it. He was VERY personable and gave his full attention to anyone who wanted to grab his ear. He interacted with everyone extremely well and was (again, as always) very responsive... just a sweet guy.
Hope you have fun!
NightLaughs, if you want to catch Idina before the show, get there more than an hour before it starts...she gets there really early sometimes. I heard she'll stop sometimes...but the last time I was there, she was running very late. She didn't stop, but she came running down the street apologizing for not being able to stop.
SHe's not talkative at all...in fact...usually all she'll say to you is "hurry up." She's very bad with meeting at the stage door...she seems very overwhelmed by the 100+ people who are there. ON less chaotic days (which just don't exist anymore at Wicked), she is very nice and will stop to talk with/sign for everyone. So in her defense...she does seem to appreciate her fans...she reads fan mail and tries to respond to it...I just had to say that because some people seem to be "pissed off" because she's in a rush, and I think those people are forgetting that it is not a requirement for her to go out that door to meet the fans and sign. She could sneak out the back door every day like Joel Grey does.
Thanks BroadwayGirl107. :) I shall keep all of that in mind.
Practically all of Q will come out, it's SUCH a sweet cast! They're my favorite autograph wise. So sweet, Tartaglia is a doll.
what big metal doors are you talking about for avenue q? i dont' know where a lot of these stage doors are so if you could tell me where they are that would be super

It is the gate to the right of the theater. These gates house the stage doors for three theaters, the royale, golden and majestic.
I say this with all stagedoor posts that come up:
Getting a celebrity's autograph is a privilege, not a right
Everyone has good days and bad days
They are human like you and me
Don't take it personally if they say no
*getting off the soapbox* ok, that's done now
Have a GREAT time!!!
If you come out of the main doors at the golden theatre, make a left and you'll see them.
Aw, chinkie, I taught you well!
*smiles big* thank you, thank you very much!
I do what I can.
I have to say that it seems like some of us feel that with the cost of our ticket comes an OBLIGATORY meeting of the cast at the door, and spending "quality time" with them. Guess what - it doesn't!!
This doesn't mean they don't appreciate their fans - the people in those shows are doing their jobs, period. They have LIVES and they are under no obligation whatsoever to come out and mingle with the crouds. If that's what you want, then find out when they are making public apperances - something VERY DIFFERENT than exiting the stage door after a physically, mentally and emotionally 2 1/2 hour show.
You saw the show once - and that was your experience with it - they perform the show EIGHT TIMES A WEEK - and you have no idea how many CRAZIES wait at the stage doors for these people. In this particular case, Idina has an incredibly demanding show to do, and the fact that she was out there AT ALL to sign your program is more than anyone DESERVES.
If just set something off in me that you said "your whole family was pissed off..." What a demented sense of entitlement...ugh.
Hugh Jackman is the easiest person to get autographs from becasue no one cares about him and he usually stands around the stage door for a long time waiting for people to walk by wanting his autograph. (sarcasm)
