So I hear jujamycyn and nederlander are requiring staff and anyone working in theater to be both vaxxed and submit to covid test every 2 days.
Anyone hear that?

I'm glad to hear they're vaccinated and getting tested but wow getting tested every 2 days seems a bit much. Friends who have gone back to work at the office in NYC since June 2020 get tested once a week.

A worker tested positive at one of jujamcyn's shows, but every 2 days seems alot. No word on how long.
Wouldn't the union have to agree to that?

You can turn positive 5 minutes after supplying a negative specimen. If they have the budget, why not?

lol I think they'll be asking staff to get tested through NYC health dept which is free.

Incorrect. Rapid tests take 15 minutes.

Just a reminder that it behooves people who don't know what they are talking about to not post incorrect information. While this is always true, it is especially true in regard to covid-related information. It's also not a bad idea of people here to be aware of how things are being handled in regard to activities that, unlike theatre, have been operating for quite a while.

And? Like for real. The expectation of a theatre that is employing a hundred people a night while working with 1500 people and there to be no positive cases among staff is silly. We're not talking about actors and dancers who need to take their masks off, it's essentially customer service. And it they're not even providing the testing themselves on site? They can **** off.

Jujamcyn workers..box office and inside theater said today "everyone" (ushers, actors, etc.) have to "spit test" because of fear of shutting down theater again. Done onsite. Already 2 break-through cases which led to testing. Word was only Jujamcyn and Nederlander so far.

I don't believe any of the Shubert theaters are open test, so they obviously cannot implement a testing policy on staff yet. But this isn't breaking news. Mandatory vaccinations and weekly covid tests are a requirement per the agreement between the League and AEA.

You're right Fosse76, so far Schubert hasn't joined jujamcyn and nederlander in that activity. Staff member said so. Going on now several times per week. Two break through covid cases prompted change.

What happens when an usher or a box office worker tests positive? How many days will they have to quarantine before coming back? Will there be a possibility of canceling performances if not enough understudies are present to cover all roles (presuming a few actors test positive?) Just curious.

All great questions Wick3. Perhaps those above my pay grade can answer them.
I presume the positive test employee stays home till they test negative. Hopefully they won't have so many posi tests.
