Hedwig was amazing, I've never had any interest in this show before this moment

Amazing how some speeches seem to go on and on forever and yet others like those by Cranston get the bums rush.

Yeah add me to the Hedwig lovefest. I am not at all familiar with the work and if it was possible to get tickets, I would do so immediately.

Even if I had a desire to see it,$400 tickets would cure me of that desire real quick.

Yes, it is.

SRG-- this has nothing to do with "friends". Have you paid attention to ANYTHING that's been said about this show and Neil's performance? Obviously not.

On Friday I was looking for tix for Hedwig and found quite a few available, but to be fair, I only needed a singleton, making it easier. Didn't buy yon, but was grateful they weren't already sold out. This morning, I checked again, thinking I should secure my ticket before the Tony awards. There were far fewer, but I still had my choices. At about 7 tonight I finally figured out which dates I could attend, and found a great deal of what I had seen to be gone.

Got one however, full price, at about 180 including fees.

I bought $49 tickets to Hedwig when it was in previews and saw it on Friday finally. So glad I had the insight to think beyond.

This shows where the importance of plays - as opposed to musicals - is on Broadway now. The award for best play so early in the eve.

You can tell that they are trying to think of ways to recognise them though. A speech by each playwright and a video clip of each play is certainly more than they've done in the past.

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

Aren't there only 5 more awards until the end (that will be broadcast)?

Bryan Cranston seems to have mastered LBJ's facial expressions, but when he's just himself, I think he looks a LOT like a much younger version of President Bush the elder.

Audrey, the Phantom Phanatic, who nonetheless would rather be Jean Valjean, who knew how to make lemonade out of lemons.

I did like the introduction/montage for the Best Play nominees. Still, it saddens me that we don't get live excerpts ala the original production of Fences. Not everyone can make it to New York to see the plays (and not every play tours), so this is their only real chance for national exposure.

Okay, thus far I think Violet has given the best performance. It really made me truly want to get out of my seat and see it.

Also, is it just me or is the camera work awful tonight?

You bought a cheap ticket for a Broadway show staring a recognizable celebrity. That isn't insight, that's you being frugal. Please don't give yourself credit for buying tickets to a show that was a hot commodity the second it was announced.

^ I noticed that at the beginning- when Patti came out for After Midnight- it took a little bit for the camera to find her.

I'm also bitter that Iglehart won a Featured Actor Tony for a leading performance, when poor Bertie Carvel still has no Tony cos he was put in Lead for what was also a Featured performance

At least, the Disney producers didn't make the same mistake as the arrogant Matilda producers did. Lesson: If they have a MUCH bigger chance of a winning in a Featured Role category than Leading role, go for an easy win!

I can't believe that they awarded best score during the commercial. Come on. I feel this show is really rushed. And why are they spending time on Sting and his show which hasn't even opened yet?
