I would bet they're lobbying hard to get Jackman and Craig to co-host. That would be a major coup for the Tonys.
As a backup, I could see them going for Jackman alone, or possibly Hayes and Chenowith (though that would be a cheesefest I would not want to see.)
I feel like this is Tony's chance to get some attention, what with the star power on Broadway this year. If they can play up the number of stars who will be in attendance, they might have an outside shot of getting some media attention. I mean, some of the biggest names in Hollywood- Denzel Washington, Scarlett Johansson, Liev Schreiber, Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman, Christopher Walken- will likely be in attendance. And there is, believe it or not, a segment of American television viewership who will tune in just to see those people.
So they would be stupid not to go with a big name superstar host. NPH won't cut it this year.
I did too, untill news broke of his filming of "60 Minutes" and along with that came the report of his "contract" being up at the end of the month. But 3 months is what Zucker originally said back in January, and I guess it'll have been 3 months! People just got his ability to start a show and be on a show confused.
So, it sucks that he can't host. I would've laughed my ass off!
It is not just that Conan has a conflicting schedule it is that he was on the left coast for over a year. It would just seem a little inauthentic to have him host when he likely has seen none of the shows.
As far as Glee, neither for or against, would Fox actually allow them to go on CBS?
It is probably NPH but I kind of wish he brought Jason Segel with him. He did write Dracula's Lament for Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
I never thought about the Fox/CBS deal for Glee! Thank you strummergirl. I really would like to see Kristin Chenoweth host but, we will have to wait and see.
I thought Conan couldn't host because of his buyout deal from NBC. Not able to work on any other network for a certain amount of time which would include the Tony's. Also, please don't let Rosie come back. she is pathetic and boring as a host.
If she wasn't in a show right now...I believe Vanessa Williams would also do a fine job...I remember her hosting the Blockbuster Awards in the past, she was hilarious!
If by some strange way Whoopi and Rosie were able to co-host, I feel that it would be one of the most unforgettable award shows ever. A whole bunch of silly and charm. Have they ever worked together?
Going to a musical late in its run is like going to a prostitute late in her shift.
so far it doesnt seem like FOX is stopping GLEE from being on other networks. They've been all over all talkshows and morning shows. It wasn't FOX that pulled them out of Thanksgiving parade. But who knows.
BroadwayBoobs: I'll give all of you who weren't there a hint of who took the pictures ...it rhymes with shameless
I think Matthew Morrison and Neail Patrick Harris hosting together would make for a GREAT evening! Can they PLEASE do a sing-off???
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
