Totally agree. Thin voices. But lovely evening.

Even a minor delay in production there could have left him with insufficient time to be able the fly back to LA in time.
That wire work looks like so much fun though! "
Possibly the Damien Chazelle/Neil Armstrong movie?
Who had the "Barbara Cook track"? I would imagine Williams, but I don't think she has the range for In Buddy's Eyes. I think she'd deliver a killer Send in the Clowns, though.
I assumed Williams would stick to the Vanessa Williams track
Interesting the conversations overheard last night at the Bowl. Had a woman behind me who kind of told our whole section that she worked with Stephen. She was a understudy on Broadway for the last 2 years of the original run of Into The Woods and would go on as snow white every night. She moved to LA and is now a voice over artist. Her group seemed to be all theater people and they wouldn't stop whispering during the show . They were all kind of rude.
Great video of Groff doing a beautiful job with Being Alive:

Yes, Groff was great. Or is the Bowl too large of a venue for a show like this? Or possibly I'm not a raving Sondheim fan. All the songs sounded alike and sort of 'thin' as others have mentioned.
Truly amazing how rude the audience can be -- lots of people facebooking or checking their phones during the show. Rude to fellow audience members and to the performers even if they can't see you.
GROFF doing BEING ALIVE was certainly one of the many highlights last night for sure...it had me in tears...

I know there are a TON of Company productions and Groff is super busy, but please please please let him be Bobby sometime.

He reads so young! Give it another ten years. Bway will be ready for a Company revival by then.

I am well aware Williams had her own track on Broadway, but the Cook track was a little showier, and I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility to assume Williams would assume that track. I'm really just curious if she sang Send in the Clowns.

No she didn't; it was Sarah Uriarte Berry.

Quite intense. Nice job, Clay.

Did not like him as George in the Signature (DC) production and this does not change my opinion unfortunately. Glad he works for others.
So looking forward to seeing Aaron Tveit as Bobby in August in Pittsfield, MA.

How old is Bobby supposed to be? 35? I don't think Groff reads too young. He looks his age - 32. He would be a perfect Bobby.

I've been dream-casting Jonathan Groff as Bobby in a Company revival on Broadway for years. Bobby is indeed 35 (the whole show revolves around his 35th birthday, lol), and I think Groff would be transcendent. These next few years are the time to do it.

Jonathan Groff would be an incredible Bobby. But he's only 32 and reads even younger. Anyway, I'd rather see a little more time go by before another ''Company'' revival. The one with Raul Esparza was 2006; Neil Patrick Harris did it with the N.Y. Philharmonic in 2011. Whenever Groff does it, he'll be great. I hope he wins a Tony for it.
