It's been kind of mentioned, but does the "Who" make this a trick question? Maybe the answer is Idina Menzel?

Jesus Christ Superstar and Rent
Aida Rent
Can you call HAIR, TWO GENTLEMEN OF VERONA, THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW or DREAMGIRLS rock operas? Rock musicals yes, operas no.Opera's should be sung through, these have books/spoken dialogue. I would have to give my vote to either JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR or TOMMY.
I was having the same thoughts, alterego -Last time I remembered, Hedwig had some dialogue, peeps!
HA.
I like Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar, but I think that I identify more with Rent because and I'm not a Christian. I love JCS, but I wasn't as moved by it as others in the audience were. There was some crying by others when Jesus was put on the cross, but I didn't really have the emotional attachment to it. I did love the music of JCS.
I loved Rent because I felt that by the end of the night, I knew the characters and that I could relate to them, and see them in myself and the people that I love. The music was great and well connected.
I thought that Rent had more heart than JCS.

Hair, RENT, Rocky Horror.
I'm almost positive Bare would be considered a pop opera since it IS called, Bare : A Pop Opera. That's a tell tale sign, I think.
If we are going by "ROCK OPERA" then here is my order:
1.) JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
2.) TOMMY
If we are going by "ROCK MUSICALS" then here is my order:
1.) JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
2.) RENT
3.) HAIR
4.) HEDWIG....
5.) ROCKY HORROR
6.) TOMMY
