"O, I?m gonna be wounded O, I?m gonna be your wound O, I?m gonna bruise you O, you?re gonna be my bruise"
The Word of Your Body (Spring Awakening) I still to this day don't understand those lyrics. Not just the ones I posted, I don't understand ANY of the lyrics to that song.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
Aww. I've always really like that lyric, even though I can't stand the show. It's the perfect way to describe the fear of jumping into a new relationship: I'm going to end up getting hurt again, but I'm also afraid of hurting you.

There is no future, there is no past. I live this moment as my last. ~ Rent
That makes sense now!!! I always though it was them having sexual fantasies of having some sort of violent domination sex thing... I'm not trying to be funny, I really though that.

Hey, who knows, in the context of the song, it very well might be. And maybe it's just because of where I was in my life when I saw the show. But I always heard it as the fear of jumping into something new.

Every single lyric in "Bright Lights, Big City" is weird. And they try SO hard to be "Raw...Schocking...Hard Hitting" and it's awful to the point where it's almost comical. I don't think there is a musical worse than "Bright Lights, Big City". There is nothing good in that show... at all, not one thing
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
I don't understand the lyrics in Spring Awakening. I think the book is decent, and the music is great... but the lyrics make no sense to me.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
"When you handed me the first draft of this show I?ll admit I was a little bit ?what the f---?? But I?m not giving up on you guys until all of us have learned to knit On the bus and truck On the bus and truck"
What "truck" is Heidi referring to? Garbage? Dump? Moving, perhaps?
I mean, come on. Are we really supposed to believe that four actors are going to be sitting around, learning to knit ON A TRUCK? Isn't there another word that would fit into this verse and rhyme with "f---?"
Give me Spring Awakening lyrics any day. Or any song written by Elton John. That stuff makes SENSE . . . at least compared to this. ^^^
I figured it my duty to show how bad the lyrics to Bright Lights, Big City are. This song is called "Odeon". This song is terrible, at one point they all get from a line and snort coke from this dude's hand. Words can not describe how bad this show is.

Yes, GIZMO2, a "bus and truck" tour is an old theater term for a traveling tour (such as a national tour) of a show. So that lyric from [tos] is Heidi's way of saying that she's not giving up on them until the show has become such a success that they're all on the national tour. Sorry if that is too much explanation Re: Rent--I have often thought the same thing. The lyric that always bothers me the most is the one in "Santa Fe" that goes something like "And save from devastation our brains." Ouch!
What Byron Abens said. Heidi is looking towards a future of the four of them being together on tour. The truck carries the sets and costumes, the bus carries the crew and actors. There's a lot of down time between destinations, so one pastime out of many is knitting.
In the song, she envisions them being on a bus and truck tour. It's a really common phrase for anyone with any sort of theatrical background. Makes perfect sense.
The "Brights Lights, Big City" lyrics made me feel a combination of "This is funny" and "WTF????" Parts of it make me laugh and parts of it are just wrong.
I always thought Spring Awakening had the worst lyrics of any score I've ever listened to. Mamma Mia! has better lyrics for crying out loud, and that was written by Swedish pop singers! Hair is next in line as the musical with the worst lyrics that I just can't stand listening to the show's score.
Dean: Can I tell you something?
Lorraine: That depends on what it is.
Dean: I think you're really really pretty.
Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.
"Marius: Hey, Eponine, what's up today?I haven't seen you much about. Eponine: Here you can always catch me in. Marius: Mind the police don't catch you out!"
I always thought this was so weird...especially, "Here you can always catch me in." Does that even make sense?
"You see, I told you so! There's lots of things I know. 'Ponine, she knows her way around."
Though I like the song, I think the winner for weirdest lyrics would have to be:
Gliddy glub gloopy Nibby nabby noopy La la la lo lo Sabba sibby sabba Nooby abba nabba Le le lo lo Tooby ooby walla Nooby abba naba Early morning singing song
And though it makes sense in the show (and is freakin' hilarious), second place is:
She Said "Boom Chick-a Chick-a Chick-a Pah Pah-ka Wa-ka Wa-ka Ka Ka-Ka Wa-Ka Wa-Ka Poo Poo-Soo Woo-Sa Woo-Sa Pah Pah-Ka Wa-Ka Wa-Ka, Wow!"
"What can you expect from a bunch of seitan worshippers?" - Reginald Tresilian
There's been a call What did I say They want to see me right away
The intent of "what did I say" is "I told you so". But to me "what did I say" makes it sound like Norma has short term memory issues. "What did I just say?"
Schmerg and Misto. Yes. It amazes me that BLBC has ever been produced. There are others songs just as bad, and worse.
"There's nothing good on. The media hates Christmas. The media loves vampires, though. Maybe they will show a Twilight Christmas." -Danmeg's 10 year old son.
Dollypop, I was just thinking that-- I'm in that show right now, and I was so confused when Frank sang that.
It's also a bit odd when Frank sings to Annie, "To hold a man in your arms is wonderful," because he just sang, "I've been there once or twice and I should know."
