OKLAHOMA
The overture itself is so beautiful (and corny and camp but who cares?) and the entr'act with "The Farmer and The Cowman" in it is so 1940's. My father told me that with a show like Oklahoma and On The Town when you hear the entr'acts you should put them in context and remember all the kids who saw these shows before shipping off to war, or back to Europe or off to the Pacific and the music takes on another dimension. Oklahoma was a must see for anyone coming into New York in 44 and 45, and I geuss it was the only show alot of those guys ever saw...
Now try and think of it in any other light.... dang....

I feel stupid asking this but how is "Entr'acte" pronounced?
Love listening to them, no clue how to say it...

Sunset Boulevard is mine. I love the way it peaks at the very end in such a swelling dramatic fashion as the curtain rises poolside. Thrilling for me!
It is pronounced on-trah-akt with the emphasis on the first syllable and the second syllable slurred in. Like ontruh-akt. BTW it is french for between acts
Thanks!

CHICAGO all the way!
Followed by THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and SUNSET BOULEVARD.
An overture so nice they played it twice. Think of the size of the balls it takes to do that.

I agree with whoever said The Wizard of Oz and It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman!
Both are amazing!
I also love all the oldies...Guys and Dolls...ummm I can't think of any others lol. But those kinds of shows
I'd hafta jump on the Cabaret train. That's my fav.
Beauty & The Beast is my favourite :)
Is there one for Little Mermaid?
The one that immediately popped into my head was South Pacific. Just gorgeous. Even if you think the show is boring, you have to admit that the music is beautiful.
I also love Beauty and the Beast and Cabaret.
