does Gimme Gimme count, cause that song blows the roof out of the theatre
I definitely have to agree with "Suddenly, Seymour." I've never seen anyone sing that song without getting completely swept away by sheer emotion. Even singing that song backstage in the dressing room for a totally different show with about eight or nine other girls, no one could help getting into it.
Another one I'm totally shocked no one put is, "Love Changes Everything" from Aspects of Love.
This one is nowhere near as well known, but one of the most powerful love songs I've heard (when properly performed) is "Now I've Seen You" from "Honk." Here's some random guy singing it on youtube that came up when I searched the song. He's pretty good, though he's definitely not one of the best I've seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjLvVkJy8w0
"It's Love" - Wonderful Town
is my choice. It just swells and blooms... and with two powerful voices... like Thomas Hampson and Audra McDonald... wow... blown away.
Suddenly Seymour - Little Shop
I'll Cover You (Reprise) - Rent
Origin Of Love - Hedwig
And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going - Dreamgirls
Johanna - Sweeney
"How Could I Ever Know"- The Secret Garden
One of the most beautiful songs ever written!
"If I Loved You" - Carousel
"Only Have Eyes for You" - 42nd Street
"Till There Was You" - The Music Man
"If Ever I Would Leave You" - Camelot

The ones that come to my mind are
Unusual Way from Nine
Love Can't Happen from Grand Hotel
I love Love Cant Happen! I felt that in it self warranted a post.

Yeah. I was suprised that nobody else posted it up before me. I figured it was pretty damn powerful.
I guess mine would have to be :
Anything for Him from Kiss of the Spiderwoman
Bare from BARE
and
The I Love you Song from the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

"All the Wasted Time" - Parade
"If I Can't Love Her" - Beauty and the Beast
"Elaborate Live" - Aida
"If Only" - The Little Mermaid
"As Long As You're Mine" - Wicked
I agree with a lot that have been posted, especially "How Could I Ever Know" and "Loving You", but is it wrong that one of my favorites is "Unworthy of Your Love" from Assassins?
WOW, how could I ever forget "If I Can't Love Her?" Definitely one of the most cathartic songs I've ever heard.
Wow. NO ONE has mentioned these:
"Say It Somehow" from The Light in the Piazza
"They Were You" from The Fantasticks
Both of those songs are so beautiful. And "They Were You" is one of the simplest songs ever, but I cry every time I hear it.

How could anyone not mention the #1 MOST POWERFUL Broadway Love Song of ALL TIME?!?!?!?!
I dare you to sing it and NOT get emotional!!!
:)
THE MORE YOU RUV SOMEONE...
The more you ruv someone,
The more you want to kill ‘em.
The more you ruv someone,
The more he make you cry
Though you are try
For making peace
With them and ruving,
That’s why you ruv so strong
You like to make him die!
The more you ruv someone,
The more he make you crazy.
The more you ruv someone,
The more you wishing him dead!
Sometime you rook at him
And only see fat and razy,
And wanting baseball bat
For hitting him on his head!
Love
And hate
They like two brothers
Who go on a date
Who....WHAT?
Where one of them goes,
Other one follows
You inviting ruv
He also bringing sorrows
The more you ruv someone,
The more you want to keer dem.
Ruving and keering
Fit like hand in glove!
So if there someone
You are wanting so
To keer dem...
You go and find him.
And you get him.
And you no keer dem.
‘Cause chances good
He is your ruv!
