"Kinky Boots," the Tony Award winner for Best Musical that grossed over $1.7 million last week, is going out on a Tier D touring contract. How do they decide what tier it will be and where to tour?

Darren Criss as Charlie?
I wonder if with Jake Odmark taking over Andy Kelso's track, if that means Kelso is going to be the new Charlie.
Where are the tickets located? I know in the past they were in the Boxes, which I have heard horrible things about.

When I won the lottery at Kinky Boots the Wed night before Thanksgiving - when they offered 40 tickets - I was in a "partial view" seat according to the ticket. However, I think I was in row G seat 9 which is like 4 seats in from the center aisle.
If there was something I couldn't see due to a "partial view", I couldn't figure out what it might be. It was an amazing seat for under $40.
Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig have announced new leads for their smash hit musical Kinky Boots; Andy Kelso, who currently plays 'Harry', will take over the role of 'Charlie Price' on January 28, 2014 following Stark Sands' January 26 departure. Jeanna de Waal will join the cast as 'Lauren,' beginning March 4, 2014 (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's "Masters of Sex"), and Jake Odmark joins the ensemble in the roles previously played by Andy Kelso. As previously announced, Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, will remain with Kinky Boots.

Congrats to Andy Kelso and Jeanna De Waal
Jeanna makes perfect sense, this is the third role that she's shared with Annaleigh. They were both Glinda, and Jeanna replaced Annaleigh in the Carrie Workshops.

I actually saw Jenna in Wicked last year! She was great and she'll be wonderful as Lauren in KB!
OMG I LOVE JEANNA DE WAAL!!!! I too
Saw her in Wicked and she was aboaolutely amazing!!! This warrants a return trip!!!
I have some questions- Since Andy is taking over as Charlie; do you think they will need a name to play Lola when Billy Porter leaves? It seems that a lot of people are seeing the show for Billy, at least in my eyes. Will they go the same route they did with Charlie and bump up an Understudy to replace Billy? I think they would really need a name to keep the interest going once Billy Leaves. However, since Kinky has gotten such a huge following, there is a good chance that a name won’t be needed. Just me wondering and throwing ideas out here. LOL
Billy Porter isn't a "name". So, now, I doubt they will need one.

I think in general - names become more important as the show is losing steam down the road. It hasn't yet with KB so I don't think a name matters. That said, names are helpful in keeping shows open when the initial burst of interest is over.
What happens in July if and when Porter leaves is too early to determine.. But there is no saying he will - that's just when he is guaranteed to stay until. He may stay longer.
That said, we have no idea how long these new contracts are for...so basically who knows..LOL

Names didn't make Kinky Boots; Kinky Boots made names (as Billy Porter graciously told CBS):
"Kinky Boots" star makes remarkable comeback

I know, but what I am saying is, that Billy is the star attraction in the show (at least in my opinion). I am just curious how the show will fare once he is gone. I never said Billy was a name (though he is now!), I said that he is what some people are seeing the show for, which is probably why they didn’t bother to get a name or even a Broadway name to replace Stark- Because they still have Porter. I mean, he’s such a big part of the show.
^^ ? - Was that directed to me?
In terms of future replacements, who would people like to see? I came across a post on tumblr a while back saying Wayne Brady could be Lola which I found interesting. I mean one of the most obvious choices are RuPaul (who people seem to forget is an actor and singer) followed by Nathan Lee Graham.
I think Kate Whetherhead (sp?) could make a great Lauren!

"[Billy Porter] is what some people are seeing the show for..."
Some people, for sure, just like a lot of people probably saw Wicked for Chenoweth and Menzel when they opened it; he didn't win the Tony for nothing. But neither did the show. Lola is a role that many other actors could make their own, as Porter has. It's not at all like when a show relies on celebrity casting.

So with Lena Hall officially departing, who do we think could be the new Nicola? My first thought was Cortney Wolfson being promoted. I don't think anyone has ever gone on for Nicola.

I know the swing Sandy, currently on medical leave, went on for Nicola at least once.

I love Tituss and think he is Amazing. With that said, there are quite a few performers who are amazing as well and have been waiting in the wings for their chance to shine and I hope one of those men get a chance at Lola either on Broadway or the Tour. But I agree Tituss would sing the hell out of the track and would be hysterical.

Cortney Wolfson is indeed taking over for Lena in March. Anna Eilinsfeld, who has been in Wicked on and off as an Elphaba cover, is taking over Cortney's track in the ensemble and as a Nicola understudy.
I just found the farewell speech for Stark Sands. Really sweet that Harvey started to cry and couldn't finish. And Billy was hysterical!
