In the history of Broadway, some jukebox musicals have been successful and some have not. If you could pick any recent artist and have there music in a new jukebox musical, who would it be? Some reason, I'm leaning towards Christina Aguilera. Her music is very inspirational and moving. And now let the hate comments begin!

Debbie Gibson?

Actually Stevie Wonder would be my actual choice.
He has great ballads, perfect dance rhythms and spiritual anthems.
Yo, Bill T. Jones!

I'd kill to see a weird, avant-garde production of a jukebox musical off of Gaga.

I would love to see a well-done John Lennon jukebox musical...Lennon could potentially have been so interesting and lovely and instead it was poorly done and flat-out bizarre. They had a great cast to work with in that show and it was so disappointing that it didn't turn out well.

Barry Manilow had a bew musical in the UK called Cant Smile Without You.....it was one of the worst shows ever

I'd love to see a Stevie Wonder jukebox musical. I'd see it in a heartbeat!

Other interesting ones:

The Beatles - I'm actually surprised this hasn't materialized yet
Diana Ross
Michael Jackson
Chicago
Radiohead

The Beatles have two and a half jukebox musicals. Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band the movie, Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band On Tour, a radically different stage veresion of the same storyline, and Across The Universe.

I'm sure this will make people gag, but I'd like to see a small show (like on a QUILTERS scale,) primarily a love story, using John Denver's songs.

What I also think would be an interesting idea would be using music from artists who became famous on YouTube. (not Justin Bieber)

I've always thought Duran Duran would be a great choice for a jukebox musical both musically and visually.

Does anyone agree with me when I say Selena (not Gomez)? Her music was great! And maybe it will give Jennifer Lopez that chance of being on Broadway, that she always wanted.

Well obviously The Beatles, but doesn't that just mean "Across the Universe"?

I think Kelly Clarkson's music could make a great one. Many people write her off as a former American Idol winner, or just an Angry Chick Pop Artist, but most of her songs have alot of heart and are lyrically great. She is an amazing song writer as well.

I was going to come in here and say Kelly Clarkson, but then I decided not to!

Inadvertently, I just did.

Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts.

If you haven't heard of them, check them out. They're a jazz-fusion band who also function as a classic-style rock band. Their musical style is very gritty, emotional and somewhat "retro," but always very theatrical. I'd love to see a dark, hard-boiled neo-noir musical based on their music- it would have to be very dance-intensive at parts to match their kinetic instrumental tracks.

Never heard of the band, but Yoko Kanno is AMAZING. And now I must investigate these Seatbelts!
