<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~
It is a far, far better thing I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to, than I have ever known. ~A Tale of Two Cities ~
I'm hoping for an all-Quaker revival of SHENENDOAH .....

I want to know if they have transposed the score or if they are singing it as written. Nothing I have read so far from any news source has addressed this.
Glitter- I was wondering the same thing about the score-
Funny note- when I did 1776, the director had this thing about always casting a woman in a guys role and hoping nobody would notice- so he cast Samuel Chase with a woman and only listed her intials in the program- didn't work- my parents opening night said - you were able to find all those men and came up short 1- you couldn't have moved some people around so they didn't have to use that butch woman?
I live in Kansas City, and MTH does some really wonderful concerts (their Big River last year was top-notch), so I might take in the show. I actually don't know a whole lot about 1776 besides catching the middle of the movie during the 4th.
Well... I am mindbogglingly excited about this. I am so glad there's now precedent, since this has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I've never wanted to live in Missouri before!

Now, now, I've lived in both KC and St. Louis and loved my time in both those cities. Now, as for everything else between them, I'll just say there's not much to say.
Well, whatever floats your boat, I suppose. I spent a good portion of my life in St Louis and every time I return there I just want to claw my skin off.
One question, but I think I already know the answer: How is the all-male "Forum" at Williamstown Theatre Fest considered a brilliant idea, and an all-female "1776" condemned as "idiotic"?
"1776" is one of my all-time favorite shows, and I think this is a great idea and I wish I could see it. I for one think it would be thrilling to hear some of those great ballads power-belted out by a great female performer! And I would bet that there is fun to be had making sly references to the women in the current political scene, as the book of "1776" always seems to be relevant to current events and personalities. For a show with set in such a definite time and place, it's amazingly timeless.

Well, if I do recall, the director of the all-male "Forum" (whose name I'm blanking on right now) stated that the concept is more of an homage to Greek theatre, when all plays were performed with just men. Therefore, that concept makes sense. A female 1776, on the other hand, does not IMHO
