I think we should boycott the Tony Awards. This is digusting. Is this punishment for not going to LA?

wow...I enjoyed her performance. I admit that I am biased because I really like her. Unfortunately, I am not surprised after reading both the Washington DC and NY reviews that frequently said she was straining her voice. When I saw the show in Washington DC she did strain a little but I did not notice it when I saw it twice in NYC.
Ehhh. If you ask me she was completely forgettable. You can be upset. but don't start a new thread with it's title in all capital letters.
And @bjh2114, Laura Osnes did not "rob" anybody. She was nominated and BP was not. Simple as that.
Oh Horton, I am pleased about it! I just meant that if anyone was expected to take Bernadette's spot, it was either Elena Roger or Kara Lindsay. Laura kinda came out of left field. I am SO happy for her.
This required its own thread? It couldn't be placed in the "Rant about the Tony nominations" thread?
I thought Bernadette was great both in DC and in New York.
Only a sociopath would forget the expression Bernadette had on her face the last time she sung "IN BUDDY'S EYES" to Ron Raines.
Sad about Bernadette's snub, but very happy for Laura Osnes.

Qolbinau,
I understand your pain, and I agree with you a 100%.
I guess I am a sociopath. I wouldn't post anymore if I were you, clearly somebody mentally unstable lurks around these boards.
Hopefully Kanye will interrupt Jan Maxwell's acceptance speech to let us know that Bernadette did in fact give the best performance this year.
It makes me sad she did not get a nomination
HAHAHAHA. If anyone pulls a "Kanye" at the Tonys, it'll be Carol Channing.
Oh honey, that'll just be because she has no clue where she is.
Thank you After Eight for your support. It is quite devastating to see Bernadette's peers consider her performance a weak one, not unlike her voice at the end of "Too Many Mornings". But I think I will now listen to my bootleg of Alice Ripley singing "How Could I Ever Forget" on tour to take the pain away. Her fractured voice representing the pain in my heart and Bernadette's soul.
Bernadette's Desiree was brilliant. Ok, shoot me, but her Sally was not great By point of reference, even her Witch in INTO THE WOODS, a fine performance not among her best, dwarfs it, and she wasn't nominated for that either.
caveat: I think it's possible that I may have seen her on an off night. But it only goes to show the thrill of live theater, and how ups and downs in performances - notable especially for troopers like Peters who go on even not at their best health wise - can affect how one feels about a performance.

I think it was just a few months ago when everyone was saying Best Actress would be a race between Bernadette and E. Roger.
Guess not.
But wasn't the lack of a nom for Into The Woods because she didn't stay with the show for long? I thought they didn't submit her for consideration that year.
I didn't hate her performance, but I'm not upset about the decision not to nominate her. I think it will help Jan Maxwell's chances.
Bernadette's Desiree IMO had one truly great moment, her "SEND IN THE CLOWNS", which was so honest and touching, and fitted her voice perfectly. Her desiree also had some hilarious moments, where she could employ some of her skills and many of her Bernadetteisms. It had some odd moments too like her accent and unthoughtful line readings.
But I thought her Sally was a devastating thoughtful performance of an unhinged woman who just can't let go. I guess it's a shame about her voice. But we have the wonderful cast recording and Victoria Clark is about to step in the role now...it is tomorrow :).
Honestly, I love Bernadette Peters, but after seeing her in Follies, I was underwhelmed and overwhelmed by Maxwell. I am not surprised she didn't get a nomination and I'm glad the voters can look past a big name and give nominations based on performance quality.
I saw her in Night Music and Follies. I guess I just really do not like Bernadette Peters, because I found her unbearable in the former and I don't think she deserved the nomination for Follies. I didn't enjoy Elaine's performance either, but I really thought she would get nominated.
I totally agree that Bernadette was robbed. She gave a wonderful performance both in DC and NY.
