The Public Theater will resume all weekend performances and is offering any remaining available tickets for free, beginning at 12 p.m. on Saturday for Sunday matinee and evening shows, and at 12 p.m. on Sunday for Saturday matinee and evening shows. Tickets can be picked up at The Public Theater box office, located at 425 Lafayette Street. Two tickets per person, subject to availability.
They are giving away tickets beginning at noon on Sunday for shows the day before? Is that a typo or am I reading that wrong?

Unless you live down there, isn't it kind of hard to access The Public Theater via public transit? I don't believe the subways are running that far down.

Just called and they are out of tickets for today, but I definitely want to try tomorrow. Did anyone get them today, and if so, at one time? Would love some advice on when to arrive tomorrow. Thanks!
I got there around 11:45 and had my ticket by 12:15. The line moved very quickly. Tickets for both performances of GIANT went by 12:10, so if you are planning to see that I would suggest getting there a bit earlier than I did. I got a ticket to the matinee of WILD WITH HAPPY, which I recommend.
I got there at 11am this morning (walked downtown from 34th street) and there were about 25 people in line already. Got tickets to the matinee of GIANT and LOVED the show. Highly recommended.
I got to the theater about 2 p.m. today, and all the tickets for Giant had been given out. So I was put on the standby list for the evening performance. They told me to get back to the theater by 6:30 (for a 7 p.m. curtain). My friend and I got there early, got drinks, and went up to the mezzanine lounge in the lobby to hang out. After all the ticketed audience members went into the theater, a staffer with the list of names started calling them out. That was about 6:55. Everyone who was there got a seat, and I would say the three back rows were still empty. We weren't given tickets.
I enjoyed the show but I'm still processing it. Not sure what I think. The singing was extraordinary though, and the orchestrations were great. Lighting, staging, performances excellent. No dance numbers.
I got there around 9:30 this morning and was able to get second row seats for the evening performance of Giant. I am not sure how late the last person to get tickets for it showed up.
Go see the show. It's incredible. Kate Baldwin and Brian D'Arcy James are remarkable. Great performances, great music. Really awesome night all around.
Here's hoping for a transfer! I know I will definitely try to make it back to the Public before the end of the run.
If you don't get a free tickets you can use code promo SANDY to get tickets for $20. I bought a ticket for Giant tomorrow with the code. Good luck to those who are in line! And thank you to the Public Theater for being so generous.
