In Arkansas parents must, by law, report any assault (physical/sexual) carried out by a child. Failing to do so means they broke the law but just like with many other crimes, there is a statue of limitations. The statue had already run out by the time law enforcement found out, so there will unfortunately be no further legal action taken. I do feel, however, that CPS should open an investigation on Jim-Bob & Michelle.
What I don't understand is how the statute of limitations was not tolled since the victims were minors.
"Tolling Provisions: The statute of limitations does not run (1) during any time when the accused is continually absent from the state or has no reasonably ascertainable place of abode or work within the state, up to a maximum of 3 years; (2) if a prosecution against the accused for the same conduct is already pending in the state.
Even if the statute of limitations has expired, a prosecution may be commenced for certain offenses committed against minors if the violation was not previously reported and the applicable statute of limitations period has not expired since the victim reached eighteen (1 years of age. This provision applies to:
Battery in the first degree, Battery in the second degree, Aggravated assault, Terroristic threatening in the first degree, Kidnapping, False imprisonment in the first degree, Permanent detention or restraint, Rape, Sexual assault in the first degree, Sexual assault in the second degree, Sexual assault in the third degree, Sexual assault in the fourth degree, Incest, Endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree, Permitting abuse of a minor, Engaging children in sexually explicit conduct for use in visual or print medium, Transportation of minors for prohibited sexual conduct, Employing or consenting to the use of a child in a sexual performance, Producing, directing, or promoting a sexual performance by a child, Computer child pornography, Computer exploitation of a child in the first degree, and Criminal attempt, criminal solicitation, or criminal conspiracy to commit any offense."

Michelle Duggan is crazy. Is she fukking kidding me with this??!!!!
“They’ve been victimized more by what has happened these last couple weeks than they were 12 years ago,” she said of daughters Jill and Jessa (now 24 and 22 years old, and who’ll appear on Kelly’s Friday broadcast) and Josh’s three other unnamed alleged victims. “Because they didn’t even understand or know that anything had happened until after the fact — when they were told about it.”
Yeah, because scrutiny by the media and by the public is FAR WORSE than a teenager SEXUALLY VIOLATING underage girls who just happen to be YOUR SISTER!
The whole thing is sick. Like I was reading that 1 of the girls was under the age of 10 and the parents don't seem phased by that.
Am I the only one who finds it strange that the only girls who seem to get mentioned or interviewed about this are Jill and Jessa? They have an older sister and the 4th girl is over 18 now as well. Granted, I have a feeling they probably all share the same disturbing views. So, it probably doesn't matter.

The girls are victimized because you chose to put your family on that moral pedestal, all the while trying like hell to spackle the cracks that kept forming. You know, after maybe the SECOND kid came forward, how about you admit you aren't handling it.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
I am so creeped out by this whole thing, and first faces on tv this morning were those awful parents.
The disgusting mom's wide eyed defense of her daughters molestation made me wonder if she had something in her past that she isn't dealing with either. The gross dad too.

Well, her "beliefs" basically reduce her to sex drone and brood mare for her husband. I honestly would not be surprised if marital rape occurs in their relationship, and their "beliefs" force her to rationalize it.

Michelle and Jim Bob were probably relieved that Josh didn't come to them confessing any furtive fuhdoodling of any younger brothers. That surely would have been far worse in their minds.
When Kelly implied that she had unfairly compared transgender people to child molesters given her son's recent admissions, Michelle doubled down on that stance.
"I think that protecting young girls and not allowing young men and men in general to go into a girls’ locker room is just common sense," she said. "This is more about — there's an agenda, and there's people that are purposing to try to bring things out and twisting them to hurt and slander."
Jim Bob also chimed in, specifying Michelle had said "pedophile," while their son, who was in his early teens at the time of the alleged molestations, was "a child preying on a child" given that the victims, including sisters Jessa Seewald and Jill Dillard, were also underage.
I think this is the saddest thing I have read about the entire seedy mess:
When asked whether they considered themselves victims, Jessa said, "I do want to speak up in his defense against people who are calling him a child molester or a pedophile or a rapist, some people are saying. I'm like, that is so overboard and a lie, really. I mean, people get mad at me for saying that but I am like, I can say this, you know? I was one of the victims."
I'm pleased not to know the answer but is this an entire family that speaks like Sarah Palin? I'm not purposing by asking, I'm just like generally in question.
