Saw it yesterday and it was ... rough. Seems like it might have been fun in a festival setting when expectations are low, but doesn't quite work as a full-blown production. Gets old quick. Also the ticket prices are just crazy ($170 for most center orch seats), and it seemed like a good portion of the audience was comped when I was there.
I saw it.. It gives me very be more chill vibes but i actually enjoyed myself. The tech was only thing that will need to be tightened but this is previews so I’m sure it will. The show feels a little long in some places with songs/scenes going on too long. The music was a lot of fun and this is an all star cast. Can’t wait to go back.

Oof. This one was rough. It was certainly splashy though, so it would probably make money if the 11-13 year olds could convince their parents to buy them tickets.
I saw it at NYMF and during the Saturday matinee which I think was the third preview, and enjoyed it quite a lot both times. It's definitely not meant to be taken seriously and I think there's a number of catchy songs. The performers are definitely giving their all, though I found some of the scaled up costumes a bit distracting.
There were some MAJOR sound and light issues, with spotlights not being on the actors so they weren't lit even when singing a solo and mics cutting out at times or just very loud so that some of the words were very difficult to understand (I felt like I couldn't distinguish any of the words in the second act songs because everything was just loud).
I found the story interesting enough without being too trite (though there are some cheesy moments) and I think the songs were fairly well done aside from a couple that just seemed to go on with no purpose. I'd relate this less to Be More Chill and a bit more to Beetlejuice in having the same style of humor with a little bit of surprising depth. The full price tickets seem outrageously expensive but if you get the lottery tickets I think it's worth price of admission just to see these performers.
I saw this yesterday and liked it a lot! It’s fun and very well performed. The talent on that stage is awesome. I think the material is solid but not top level. I didn’t leave the show thinking that I’ve got to hear the songs again. Plus it is too long. About 15 minutes needs to be cut. I took advantage of the $20 deal and was happy I got to see the show.
That is ridiculous. I very rarely regret going to a show, but this was 2 (luckily, free) hours of my life I’ll truly never get back. To each their own, but if someone recommended I go see this show with my hard earned money I’d never talk to them again.
Anyone else see this? The cast is incredible but the few songs that are floating around are mind-numbing. It sounds like the kind of pop music where it's impossible to focus on the lyrics.
