"Later this year." - Can they not be a little more specific...?
Regardless, looking forward to this. I think this may be one those cases where it sounds better on the cast album than in the theatre.
“Later this year”? Well, that’s… descriptive.

Not technically jinx, but “Jinx!”
Their Instagram has pictures of the recording session, and it says “coming soon.”
Misread it and thought it said “later this week” and now I’m mad…
As long as we don't wait as long as we had to for the Sunday in the Park one with Jake and Annaleigh. lol.
Seems like they'd want to get it up for streaming and download before the Tony Awards broadcast so I don't think we have to wait too long.
I guess release date(s) will depend on when they finish recording and mixing/etc.
hope they release a CD
"The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" drops this Monday, May 8!

That clip sounds amazing!
Well I think this bodes well that we will see other tracks and the full album sooner rather than later!
Wow, this really does sound fantastic! Very excited for Monday.
I assume they want to get - at minimum - a selection of songs out as a sampler for Tony voters. Even if it's only the title song, something showcasing Ruthie (act 2 Joanna?), Priest, Epiphany, and Worst Pies. With a good team prioritizing this, they could conceivably get the whole album out to voters before the voting period ends.

I'm surprised the organ prelude isn't included in the Ballad. I wonder if it was recorded as a separate track, or it won't be on the album at all. Anyway, sounds fantastic, can't wait to see it next week.
This sounds REALLY good. It sounds even better on the recording that it does in the theatre.

I’m assuming it’s a separate track. I’ll be devastated if they didn’t record it!

the ensemble sounds a little muffled to me, which frustrates me, it was crisp and clear in the theatre. but other than that... i'm obsessed. have listened 10 times already.
As my mother would say, "s**t or get off the pot" and give us a whole release, or at least just a date.

Came here to say the same about the ensemble. They also sound strangely clipped in the cuts between them and Josh at the end.
Who's the opening soloist, is that Paul-Jordan Jansen?
Maybe that's all still being worked on, and that's why the holdup. Alex Lacamoire just posted on social media about the album in a way that makes it sound like the process isn't over -- he said he was having a great time making (present tense) the album, which is pretty specifically not a "wait till you see what we've made for you" kind of thing.
