An album will probably play better than the show does when you just get the songs and the vocal performances divorced from the book and projections.

This cast is phenomenal, and I’m glad these performances and arrangements are being preserved. I already know I’ll be replaying this revival’s “If I Could Feel” more than I should.

To whom it may concern: Please give us the full album. I actively mourn the almost-50-year-old original cast album’s omissions.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

Don't get that "preprise" (whatever that is) of "Home."Guess "Funky Monkeys," "Who Do You Think You Are?" and "A Rested Body is a Rested Mind" were dropped. *sigh* Wonder if "Believe in Yourself includes the Wiz's version as well as Glinda's.

^ This production opens with Dorothy singing a bit of “Soon As I Get Home” to establish Dorothy feeling lonely now that she has moved to Kansas to live with Aunt Em after her parents died, so that’s the “Preprise.” All the other songs you mentioned were dropped for this production, and we only get Glinda’s version of “Believe In Yourself.” The Wiz is an unrepentant a**hole in this version.

The two songs they released do sound great. I had a lot of problems with this production, but the vocals and orchestrations were truly stellar. Looking forward to the full album dropping.

In the Album’s defense… the songs you mentioned are not on the Original 1975 recording either.

Just Saying!

Why is nearly every cast recording of The Wiz unwilling to record all three versions of Ease On Down the Road as they are performed in the show? Too repetitive?

But then there's a reprise of Ease On Down the Road in act two? I don't remember that in the tour. How does that fit in?

I still think it’s criminal they didn’t record the Emerald City sequence, it’s some of the best music in the whole show

They sing a slowed down “emotional” reprise when Dorothy is saying goodbye to the three friends. It’s…..a choice.

Looking forward to listening to this recording as the music was by far the best part of this production!

I wonder if there was a rights issue about the Emerald City Sequence since it samples music from the movie? I might be wrong, but the “Ahhhhs” sounded like they were the actual audio from the film.

I love everything except No Bad News. I still listen to Mabel King’s version and Tichina Arnold’s live version. Melody doesn’t really bring it the way I hoped.

I think Melody sounds great, I just don’t like the arrangement

It is definitely the arrangement of No Bad News, I remember being truly baffled in the theatre when I heard it. It does nothing for the song, Melody, or the story. Confusing for such an actor with such a stunning voice! And such a classic number in The Wiz, just odd.
