Phantom. It's a bit open-ended, but I like it like that.
"During this performance, please feel free to let your cell phones and pagers ring willy-nilly. However, do remember that there are heavily-armed knights on stage and you might well be dragged up and impaled."
(Pre-curtain announcement at the new Broadway musical Monty Python's Spamalot)
I remember one theater critic writing (I forget which one): "At the end of Fiddler of The Roof, Tevye still has his faith. At the end of Man of La Mancha, Don Quixote still has his dream. At the end of Cabaret, the characters are all over-run by Nazi domination and a world war."
"I say YOU'RE the CUTEST one. No, I say YOU'RE the CUTEST One. And we go on like that from dawn to three."
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
Les Miz. I love the redemptive and cathartic quality of it.

Aida has a very cool ending...Unique and Mushy!!! Into the Woods is a flawless show (the original) and the ending is very moving!!!
And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before...
After the Sky.

I agree with jesseeinstein, Parade has a very powerful ending. I also think that Phantom of the Opera has one of the best endings!
BUT.....
In my opinion, the musical with the most amazing ending is from the German musical "Elisabeth". The finale is truely one of the most powerful endings I have ever seen as well as heard. This musical is screaming to open in New York eventually!
Later!

------- "We Drink Your Blood And Then We Eat Your Soul, Nothings Gonna Stop Us Let The Bad Times Roll"
-------"Past The Point Of No Return, No Backward Glances, Abandon Thought And Let The Dream Begin"
If anyone has seen the most recent revival of "Pacific Overtures", they will probably say that that has a great ending. Even if it isn't necessarily brilliant or appropriate (although I think its quite smart), the last five minutes of the show are nothing short of EXHILIRATING.
Also, who can resist the end of Hairspray. You leave the theatre wanting to hug people and buy cotton candy.
I'm suprised no one has mentioned Caroline, or Change. The whole last couple scenes are filled with the most beautiful melodies ever created. Then, to top it off, with the Epilogue, Emmie's Dream. Wow.
